Have an echo backpack blowers. Fool thing was running fine-but leaked gas like a mofo. Best I could tell it was leaking around the fuel tank gromet. So ordered a new fuel line system, echo branded (not $15 chineesium crap from ebay) came complete - new primer bulb, new fuel filter, new lines, new breather, new grommet, new primer bulb. I replaced the whole works. Now the thing is a bitch to get started : primer bulb is collapsed, won't run at all if either air filter is installed, if I do get it started it doesn't seem to quite reach peak rpm. Also won't run if you tighten the gas cap. It ran for a while today, but eventually died and it wont run more than 30 seconds or so without dying. I checked the primer bulb - instructions say long fuel barb on the bulb goes to the fuel return line to the tank, short barb goes to carb - this is how I put it back together (I pulled it apart and verified) Not quite sure where to start? |

| When you changed out the primer bulb on the carb did you carefully look for a built in valve that goes over a port? Sometimes those gaskets have a specific direction they go in. Or maybe you missed the small spring and check ball that might have fallen out? Definitely sounds like a valve is not working if the new bulb is collapsed. |

This bulb isnt mounted directly to the carb. It just snaps into a hole in the plastic housing. No gaskets or springs involved. Just a line from carb to the bulb, and a line from the bulb to the tank. Instructions say the fuel line from the carb to the bulb goes to the shorter barb fitting on the bulb, the line from the bulb to the fuel tank goes to the longer barb. I did try reversing them - instruction are known to be wrong occasionally. It didn't run any better. I ordered a carb kit for it this morning. |

Disconnect fuel line from bulb where it heads to the tank. Blow through it to make sure the line isn’t crimped. Was the new fuel line the same diameter as the old stuff? If larger and you pull it through the holes in the tank it might close off the fuel line. You didn’t put the clunk against the back of the tank where it could be blocked? |
| Rebuild the carb, the diaphragms are hard and the body needs to be cleaned internally. Buy the carb adjustment tool kit for small engines, they come with about every different tool head needed for the different ''anti-tamper'' hi/low screws. |

I received the carb kit, tore the carb apart and sprayed it out with carb cleaner, reassembled the carb. Made sure the fuel filter wasn't plugged (brand new, but checked anyway), took the tank vent off and blew through it, it worked). Put it all back together. Seems to run fine. I'll have more time to run it maybe tomorrow if the weather co-operates. I couldn't see anything wrong with the original gaskets and seals in the carb - the needle was kind of gunky, but the screen seemed clean. Hopefully I got it running. |
