Planning on having a few pours of Bulleit later. Just needs to be after lunch first.

I may mix up something with gin as well.

Tonight we are having a blind taste test at the cigar lounge. We chose 4 under $30 bourbons to test / sample.

The 4 players are:

1. Elijah Craig Small Batch
2. Wild Turkey 101
3. Eagle Rare
4. 1792

This was also the order in which I picked them based on my prefered taste profile.

I was shocked that the EC beat out my perceived favorite WT 101.  Even though it was by a small margin, i am still completely shocked by this.  I can't even begin to tell you how much WT 101 I've drank over the years.  But....

I'm looking forward to seeing what the other testers decide is their favorite.

I'll try it with a line next time.

Started with a pour of Blanton's now trying this Rum that a friend brought.  It's okay, not great but drinkable.

When the results (10) were totaled, it was:

1. Eagle Rare
2. Elijah Craig
3. WT 101
4. 1792

the top 3 were so close in scoring,  they were all within a point or 2. The 1792 seemed to be everyone's least favorite though.

Earlier had a big glass of Kraken and Dr Pepper (it's hot here).  Sipping some Knob Creek now.

Honestly, unleashing the Kraken is dangerous in a mixed drink. Way easy to over do it.

Hopefully the single barrel / barrel select is good for you.

Everyone has different taste preferences. I just didn't care for our small batch bottle.

Let us know how it is when you open it.  I know I'm curious.

Yep.  At $22 a bottle you can't go wrong.   Sometimes you just need to go back to the staples that set you on the journey.
