I don't believe it. A lot of democrat men think they're women and couldn't/wouldn't vote so their numbers would be even less.

when too few people in the northern part of the US stood up to the radical republican's power grab in the 1860s.

Since then every crisis has been used to further centralize and consolidate power in Washington.
That was when the concept of social engineering through education was introduced in the US, and the genesis of our brand of crony capitalism.

Regardless of what you choose to believe about the war or egalitarian crusade narrative, the trajectory we're on today was set in 1861 when the executive branch gave it's self the power to solve political problems with military force.

And Lawn darts.

it was the start of the "safety first!" movement. Liberty to lawn dart your competition during play (without malice) is a bridge too far in the freedom-loving. Don't, like, play the game if you can't accept the risks. But naw! Everybody gets a trophy.  No more lawn darts.

1965 with LBJ's War on Poverty and the Great Society.  It was vote buying catered toward black and poor Americans.   Basically it replaced fathers in our society and made Uncle Sam the defacto father for every child born out of wedlock  in America.

The Younger Dryas Boundary Event basically fucked humanity over, we really could have used a few more millennia of social and scientific development before we resorted to authoritarian agricultural civilization. Slavery, theistic religion, blood sacrifice, totalitarianism are all products of the plow becoming a necessity before we understood anything.

Constantine creating a state religion of the Roman Empire didn't help matters.

The Industrial Revolution pretty much guaranteed change would be too rapid to be well considered and executed, and populations would grow ungovernable.

Woodrow Wilson is a really good answer, he was weak and had no conception of the forces shaping his time, to be expected really of a Calvinist minister. He had no business being in a position of real authority at such a critical moment in history.

JFK's assassination was a bigger blow than most realize, not so much because he was so great but because the Kennedy/Goldwater debates never happened and the issues of the day never really got settled. We've been stuck in 1964 politically and socially speaking longer than most of us have been alive.

Yep.

I don't care if you are a man, woman, black, white, purple tranny alien from Venus... if you aren't producing (and definitely if you are getting "assistance" (welfare)), you should have no say in how it is being run.

It's never exclusively one thing that causes a downfall. I've always wondered about why we stop vilifying commies and socialists. Now it's perfectly acceptable to say you are either without people telling you you're a POS and if you love it so much move to which ever country is the most fucked up at the time.

They made McCarthy out to be a kook, but with the release of the Venona Papers and other documents... he wasn't wrong.

ETA people voting that have no skin in the game certainly doesn't help.

I've put a lot of thought into this.

In 2008 Tropic Thunder came out.

That is the last large budget movie I recall Hollywood was able to put out with now completely inappropriate humor.

Making fun of the mentally handicapped, an elaborate black face scene. . . there's just no fucking way you could make that movie today.

That was when it all started going downhill. 2008
