We are way past that point. Most of America, and the western world, is fat to one degree or another.
Although it would be pretty easy to implement a basic physical fitness test every 6 months which must be passed to retain employment.... There would hardly be anyone left to be a cop though..... |

Majority of now days cops don’t inspire confidence or command respect..cities are hiring anyone with pulse literally. Obese , short males , diversity females hires ….

If you have a job where there is a high likelyhood of conflict and physical violence why wouldn't you be in shape?
When you look at a cop you should immediately get the "this doesn't look like someone I should fuck with" aura. I work with the public and one of the reasons I work out daily is appearance. First impressions are important. |

Officers at our PD had to meet Army APFT standards every year. A town cop in a neighboring area was so fat that when he pulled a vehicle over, he would drive up, lower his passenger window and tell them to stay put, then he would make a you turn so he could pull his driver side window up next to theirs
