Was this an actual place before or after the south park episode years ago?

It was an actual place. And South Park picked it up and ran with it. Of course exaggerated a lot.

I loved the episode. I'd love to go to the actual restaurant.

It's a great, fun use for the piles of fuck-you money that those guys have.  Good for them and I bet it's gonna be awesome.

It was so long ago that we went.   Early 80's, don't remember the food, but do remember dim lighting and cliff divers.

The best thing about Casa Bonita was that it was relatively affordable.
Good to see it revived, but…
Can’t wait to see the new pricing.

and a 20% tip on top of that!

Went to the Casa Bonita in Tulsa a lot growing up as well as Crystal's in the same shopping mall.

The boy and I also went to the Casa Bonita in Denver after the South Park episode came out during a trip.

I don't care what they do to the menu as long as they don't mess with the sopaipillas. Casa Bonita and Ponchos always had the beat sopaipillas.

It's in Lakewood (Jefferson County), not Denver.

I still wouldn't go.

I took my boys there for a birthday party in the early 2000s.  I still don't get the attraction but I wish them well.

The recent one where the hot dog place reopened was an allegory (for lack of a better term) of it.

Opened in 1974.
I remember going as a kid in the late 80's, it was a toilet then.

Same

I’m sure the food probably wasn’t that good, but I absolutely loved it.

Shit..
I lived in Lakewood in 82-83 for school. Don’t know how I missed it back then ?
Well if I get back out that way. I’ll stop by.

I never went to Casa Bonita, but I did go to Mayan Adventure which was a copycat in Salt Lake. Casa Bonita even sued them.

I went to the casa Bonita in Tulsa many years ago. My friends lied to the mariachi and told him it was my birthday. So, he sang happy birthday to me, fricken embarrassing!

$40 million?  That's a mind blowing amount of money to invest in a strip mall restaurant two doors down from a Dollar Tree store.

Still, those guys are absolute legends for doing it.  I bet it's going to be pretty awesome when it opens.

When you're multi-millionaires you can spend $40 million on a business venture without flinching (much.)

Went there in the late 80’s. Cliff divers were there. Don’t remember the food being bad. It was fun. Not as fun as Laddys (sp). Closed that place down more than I’d like to admit.
