I bet they're extra crisp on the corners, might be good with coffee.  Otherwise, donuts are round for a reason--so they'll cook evenly.

I haven't had any of those in years.  My dad took me to one of their stores when I was a kid.

I'm a Donut Operator (Ret.) and these bad boys are the best I've ever had. Krispy Kreme even the warm ones fresh from the line aren't this good.

There's a place in Portland (Nola) that makes these donuts that are easily the best I've ever had. It may not be fair to call them donuts since they're flaky like a croissant. They're also about $4.00 apiece.

Get there real early when they're warm and they're hard to beat.  We take turns bringing them into work about once a month.

You were in Terre Haute?

ETA:  You heard about the train stopping to pick up some, while  blocking about 4 crossings?

I used to walk to the little bakery in the town I grew up in for square donuts.

More doughnuts per box and more surface area per donut = more winning!

I grew up there.  Spent the first 29 years there.

I was there a couple of years ago for a high school reunion.  It's changed.

Here's the best sugar donut ever.  Some call it a malasada.

Not unless you make the squares smaller than the circles.
