Yeah it's taken a ridiculous amount of time and money to finish the two games, but the finish line is clearly in sight as evidenced by the playable Squadron 42 demo. Star Citizen 1.0 might be a few years, but the same can be said for it. Everything is falling into place with it. They primarily need to finish up the professions, fully implement server meshing (first implementation has already been tested a lot and is coming at the end of the year), get the backlog of ships done (this is speeding up), and build out the remaining 3 systems that they committed to (which should also go a lot faster). I can't wait for the Polaris to go live. It fucking looks sweet. |

Oh man. I put in around $300 when this first came out. Several years later I expressed frustration because lack of progress and folks jumped on me saying oh you only put in several hundred dollars. They stated how they had thousands invested and it was going to be worth the wait. It’s been 12 years since they did the kickstarter and only 2 more years for Squadron game to come out, if you can believe that. Anybody know how to sell ships online |

Aegis Sabre with lifetime insurance is the only unique craft I have. I have 2 avengers with game packages. One is with lifetime insurance/hanger and the other is 6 months plus all the backer trinkets that RSI gave. I might be forgetting things. I planned on gifting my brother one of the avengers with the game but he doesn’t game anymore. He’s got too many young kids, so no time. , lot can happen in 10+ years. I’m looking forward to squadron 42. The demo was really cool and I didn’t realize they had big name actors. I wonder if using less expensive talent would have been better or since they spent so much what was a little more going to hurt. I backed this because Squadron 42 was going to be connected part of the Star Citizen world or vice versa. Now I’m finding out that Squadron 42 is going to be a standalone game. |

I'm looking forward to squadron 42. The demo was really cool and I didn't realize they had big name actors. I wonder if using less expensive talent would have been better or since they spent so much what was a little more going to hurt. I backed this because Squadron 42 was going to be connected part of the Star Citizen world or vice versa. Now I'm finding out that Squadron 42 is going to be a standalone game. Chris Roberts figured he was making a space fighter sim. He was wrong, but he didn't know it right away. He started getting a bunch of feedback from backers wondering when the other stuff was going to start showing up. Other stuff? So CIG put out a poll. Something like 70% of all backers wanted a space exploration sim. A huge chunk wanted to be space truckers (essentially). Then there were the crafters, one of which I may be transitioning to after last week. Turns out, the people actually paying for Star Citizen wanted something orders of magnitude grander than the original concept. Roberts listened. Next, while they were working on the back end, one of the devs scratched his head and went, "hey, that's funny...." Turns out, there was a way the back end (the bit you don't see as a player except insofar as it allows you to play the game) could be modified in such a way that it would work way better for fewer assets. Again, Roberts came to the community and explained what was going on. He asked a question. Keep going with what we have to get the game out sooner, with the idea of implementing these changes later, or scrap the whole mess and start over with the newer version? Overwhelmingly, the backers said start over. Still later, when the game had gotten sufficiently complex that they changed its category from 'space sim' to 'universe sim' he came back and asked us, "Release sooner, or wait until it's done." IIRC, this was back around Fallout 76's release, when the gaming world was heartily sick of games releasing crippled by bugs because they'd been pushed out too quickly. Again, the community (the backers who were ponying up the dough) said "Release when it's done!" With every step, development got longer. OTOH, because they've completely rebuilt the engine at least 3 times, based pretty much solely on what they'd learned building the engine, we've started seeing things that we thought were going to be far off and maybe not possible. This year's Citizencon featured complex, procedurally generated planets and biomes. When the stretch goals were being hammered out, it was made clear that they might not ever get that working. The bunk on a space station to standing on a planet without a single load screen was something that came out of the blue years earlier than it had been suggested it might be possible. And finding out that you can craft everything from a hand held tractor beam to a space station? That's so far beyond what we were expecting that it's hard to fathom. It introduced an entirely new aspect of gameplay, and a completely new career path within the game. You'll be able to be a space construction company, building habitats etc. for other players or orgs. tl'dr: The game we were promised came and went back in 2014. The game we repeatedly asked for is about 18 months or so from being at 1.0 Not entirely CIG's fault. |

One way to sell a ship/package on the grey market is to transfer the cash via some 3rd party method such as paypal or the like, and once you've got the cash, gift the ship/package to the buyer. Requires some trust between parties. Another way is just to move the entire account. Scrub your saved payment methods, change the email to the buyer's email, and they can access the account and change the other identifiers. I haven't actually tried this method, but it should work. Also, SQ42 and SC are connected. Once you finish SQ42, you (assuming you have both packages) walk out of the endgame and into Star Citizen proper as a Citizen. I say Citizen specifically because it separates you from civilians and gives you extra benefits. SQ42, as a standalone, once you finish, you're done. You might want to save one of your earlier packages that has both SQ42 AND SC. Once it's released, SQ42 looks to be a $70 game. |

I don't think they put another date on SQ42 release lightly, and I don't think it's a coincidence they outlined a very minimalist/achievable definition of MVP at the same event. The pressure they're going to be under to go live with the PU six months after SQ42 releases is going to be insane if it's a big hit with tens of millions of players, I don't think the idea is they'll release Squadron and then go back to another few years of Alpha and lose all those active accounts and hype. I'm looking forward to Polaris too. I want to pick up a few warbond CCUs to get a cheap Zeuss MR this IAE too. I think the only other thing they could tempt me with at this point would be a Pioneer CCU so I could upgrade an old merchantman. If we're doing the grey market thing I've got several UEE 2948 exploration packs in my buybacks, was one of the best discount LTI packages they ever did and that was before the Carrack increased in price. (and it wasn't warbond, so I could melt it and buy it back over and over) It's a shame they started updating prices on CCUs in buyback or I'd have a lot more stuff. |

Anybody know what happened to the guy who started Spaceman's Benevolent Association, Local 87? He's AWOL, and the org is completely dead. Granted, the majority of my stuff is good aligned, but I do have one account I dedicated to piracy, and I'd be willing to take it over if I can find the guy. I'm not doing much flying ATM, but I do log in and can at least keep it alive. As for spending, barring something really great coming out on the cheap, I think I'm about done throwing cash at CIG. I need to start buying ammo and doing some IRL practice for the potential PVP that may be looming on the horizon and for the cost of a $50 spaceship, I could buy almost a box of 6.5 or 4 rounds of .50bmg That said, I've got a couple of low end melted LTI tokens in case somebody needs one. Also, a couple of old Avenger packages with SQ AND SC in them. Not looking to make a profit, just help some ARFcommers out. |

If it's now a persistent ship, you'll need somebody guarding it 24/7/365 to keep the shitbirds from yoinking it or blowing it up. |

Since I can't find whoever it was who created the Arfcom bad guys and general piracy org, I created my own tonight. Antisocial A-holes and Reluctant Reprobates, or AAHRR. Anybody feels like joining just put ARFcom in the query, or post your interest in this thread and I'll send you an invitation. I'm personally a filthy casual, and my pirate account isn't my main, but that doesn't mean the org can't be useful. The original one only had 3 total members, so maybe we can at least beat that. The 87th Black Rifles still only has 101 members. For a forum this size, that's kind of embarrassing as well. |

I sold my account in 2018 and got 70% of that back though. The die hards on the forums were saying two more years then too, even though SQ42 was 2 years late and they had absolutely zero to show. I figured they were 5 or 6 years away at best, or never. 6 years later they still look decades away. As far as cashing out I used a middleman service, should be a few of them on Reddit. |

Polaris turned out nice, even if it does take ten people to get full combat effectiveness. There's obviously going to be more polish and tuning. The hanger is big enough for all the small profession ships so it should have a lot of utility as a forward base if that turns out to be a viable gameplay strategy. I don't have enough $$ into the game to buy a Idris even if I melted everything, but I've got about a 35% cost basis on my fleet from playing the store game. I'm eagerly awaiting the base building ships. |

I still have my booklet somewhere. I can't wait to fuck up someone's day with it, if I have enough friends to undock and can figure out how to map my HOTAS again. ![]() I haven't checked up on things in years, I was hoping long ago that it could fit a Cutlass as a decent boarding craft. ![]() Kharn |

Any of you guys who're disillusioned with the game and want to unload a base package? PM me. I'm ginning up an alt for a project and don't want to drop too much cash on it. |

I mainly plan to use them as mobile bases for running missions, but once blades and then NPC crews come online, they'll be viable solo-ish ships. |

What is the status of this game? I assume 1.0 coming out "soon" means maybe in the next few years or is there at least a rough eta? I too did the original Kickstarter and tried it a few times over the years. If I start again will it just be wiped? How viable is it now? |

Status of the game is, they're currently in alpha 3.24.3 (I think Maybe 3.24.4). Alpha 4.0 is in limited testing (currently paused for the IAE event) Jump gates are live. physicalized cargo is live. Many of the multicrew ships are live. They just released the Polaris, so if you own one, you can fly it. It's still for sale in limited numbers. There is significant gameplay, both PVP and PVE available. 4.0 is supposed to be released to the Permanent Test Universe by end of year. IT WILL INCLUDE A FULL WIPE, possibly the last of them. They've stated that they're trying very hard to limit hard wipes. For the past several updates, the only real wipes were stuff you left out of storage and aUEC. Ships etc. you bought in-game, and gear you bought in game, so long as it was stored properly, persisted. There were a few persistent infinite money glitches still around as of 3.23, and those things make balancing an economy pure hell. Soft death on ships has been implemented, so you can now do some limited looting of wrecks Many ships are for sale in game already for aUEC, and they'll stay persistent in your account accross many of the partial wipes, with only the full wipes removing them. Squadron 42 release date has been hard set to some time in 2026. It's supposedly finished and undergoing "polish". Star Citizen 1.0, which they're considering full release, could be any time between mid 2025 and 2027, they're not sure, as much of what's gone into development of the game is undiscovered country. Probably closer to 2027, to be honest. Meanwhile, with each update, the game becomes more playable (except 3.18. We don't talk about 3.18) There are currently 3 systems, as they JUST opened Pyro. Might not even be in the permanent universe yet. There are still several gameplay loops that aren't available, and as a result, several of the specialty ships that are about worthless, or have been put on the back burner. Data runners, for instance, although the Mercury Data runners are live, just without the whole mechanic they were designed for. I don't think I missed anything, but a couple of the other guys probably know more. I've only just started back in playing myself. ETA: Just to be clear, it IS still buggy, but not nearly as buggy as it was. Probably on the level or a 1st release Bethesda game. Maybe a little better. |

Assuming the money keeps coming. Pyro, the 2nd system is still not out yet after 4 years of "soon". Then they have 3 more to go. Countless game systems are still in theory/white board phase then once there's a beta at least a year of bug fixing, balancing 20 years of ships, and optimization. 1.0 is very, very far away. |

I play. Have a Vulture I just dink around in. Its been shit the last few weeks, nearly unplayable. And with the wipe coming, I have been uninterested until that happens. Not giving them more money. Its honestly not looking like a fun game, but a button pushing simulator that they randomly remap your keyboard every patch. also, been waiting since day 1. So 10+years. I also have the rare Mustang Omega, and other shit that doesn't matter. Sick of these assholes |

If they can get 4.0 out and working in the next few months that's 2 systems down, 3 to go. And look how long Pyro took..... |

Look, I'm not gonna deny that CIG's most efficient division is marketing, but I've been watching what they've been building, and what they're creating isn't as simple as some of you guys seem to think. They're going on 12 years working on a game that's comparable, if not superior, to AAA games that often take 10 years or more. |

Changing game engines several times and scope creep are a major issue in development time. What's crazy to me is they're making more money than ever each year from ship sales... If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would say the scope creep and game delays are intentional because they're making far more money now then they will after the game officially releases. It is very impressive what they've accomplished though, and if they can actually achieve the vision, it will be nothing short of an amazing gaming experience. |

As a side note, I discovered quite by accident, that the RSI Aurora ES standalone ship (at $20, the absolutely cheapest ship in the game) comes with 10 year insurance at the moment, and can be had with store credit as well as cash. I melted an old $40 pledge with crap insurance and bought 2 of them just to hold as CCU tokens. |
