Can't imagine a PD would issue/allow a G19 as "standard" when G17/G34 exists? Seems small.
Then again the NYPD exists, so...what do I know

Depends where you plan to work.
Are you hired? Are you hoping to get hired? In PA, cadets typically put themselves through the academy, then work a few part time jobs for a year. Good ones get in a ft dept in a year or so, others keep working part time for their career. Part time depts usually require you supply your gun. Because of this I bought a Sig P226 .40 cal, and purchased a 9mm upper and mags. The academy I went to required and supplied 9mm. PD I intended to work for required .40. If your working for multiple depts you can swap slides and use the same gun from dept to dept. Just my thoughts. |

I can't believe joglee, of all people on this site, doesn't have one or the other pistol already.
I vote the Glock but I am biased toward Glock. The real choice will come down to what you are actually able to get with the China virus panic ongoing. I read over on GlockTalk (no idea if true) is Glock's coming in the country are being held up by Customs and the Deutsch-Wagram factory is shutdown at the moment. No idea if this is actually the case, but Glock's are harder to get than toilet paper or a coherent sentence from Uncle Joe. |

That's a "go feel for yourself" question.
Some people hate Glock ergonomics. The Sig would hold an advantage for interchangeable frames. Since you probably can't change trigger or anything out, make sure you don't hate the trigger or sights on either. I think the 320 has better sights and the g19 has a better trigger from the Sig examples I've felt. The Sig is so tall that it has more muzzle rise for me. I'd pick g19 personally. It's boring and ugly and works. |

I however can only get one atm. I would hope by August everything will be open, worst case I use one of my guns I currently have if for some reason no one has any guns for sell. Fuck all the haters  My old agency was Sig. Before that they were revolvers. I carried an issued P229 in .40 for many years. Then I picked up a personal P228R which was a way better. When they authorized P320's I was all over it. I shot it well and never had any problems w thousands of rounds down the pipe. I liked that I could change out the grips size and my split times tightened up correspondingly. I have no problem recommending the Sig. Just went to a different agency and I'm back to an issued P229 in.40  |

I had to buy my own as well. Our options were:
Glock G17/19 S&W M&P Sig P320 Springfield XD. I picked the P320 but about 90% of the recruits picked up the Glock. |
