One thing that is interesting to me is that no one is pointing out the absolute and blatant failure of our public schools (and parents) when you see these folks tearing down the "wrong" statue. The Grant one is a good example ... I am sure no one there even knew who or what he was ... only that he was an old white guy. I look forward to the first John Brown statue that gets torn down, if it hasn't already ... now that will be funny.

Now I'm fucking pissed. I think this could change some of the support these fucktards are getting in Austin. SRV and his brother were huge supporters of black artists and grew up poor white kids in a black neighborhood (Oakcliff, TX). I'm really hoping some of these assholes catch lead soon.

This is not the first time it's been vandalized. It's been surrounded by flood waters up to the base twice and spry painted on numerous occasion.
It's Austin. It's just what they do. The city motto of Keep Austin Weird is there for a reason. If the Vaughn Brothers statute is ever built in Dallas, I'm sure the same will happen to it.
