Looking to buy and use a straight razor. It needs to be better than average and not to expensive Any recommendations? Also need a strop |

What do you consider not expensive? Nitrogen expensive and better than average probably d9nt go together Cheapest I'd go would probably be a dovo. A maker I live is called Jacob Ray. He makes some amazing razors. |

| I think either a thiers-issard or Dovo razor would be a good place to start and will have many in your price range. Keep in mind you will need a stone and strop for sharpening and maintaining the edge. Check out the superior shave. |

The technique takes some time to learn, but IMO, it’s worth the effort. Once I got the hang of it, it’s actually less traumatic than shaving with a twin blade razor, and possibly even a double edged safety razor. It probably varies from person to person, though. However, I have experienced trouble keeping the edge sharpened properly, though. Consequently, I mostly use a double edged safety razor. |
