I spent too many nights one winter staying at the Dreary Inn on Big Beaver.  Business trip.  No beaver.

I’m pretty sure I found a sign that warned motorists of a 33% grade. I’ll have to go back and see if it’s there.

I occasionally drive by this road. Probably the most unimaginative road name ever.

There was a time when people gave directions based on local landmarks.  As unimaginative as it is, somehow the known names became the official names when street signs were installed for those not familiar with the local area.

Randol Mill Rd is a long road that passes through Fort Worth and Arlington in the DFW area.  In the mid 1800's, if you wanted your grain ground into flour, you hauled it to Randol's mill, just north of this sign, along the Trinity River.  The physical remnants of the mill, and knowledge of, are long gone.  No one gives a second thought as to why the road is named and signed Randol Mill.  Yet about 150 years ago, long before the signs went up and your GPS told you how to get from point A to point B, that was the path to get to Randal's mill.  You should write someone and tell them to come up with a cuter, more imaginative name.  History be a thing yo.

I used to have a poster of the bottom one where they were getting chased by a zombie. The zombie could easily grab the little girl which is fine I guess, because if Mom and Dad get away they can always have another kid. If the parents get got the kid is gonna die anyway too.
