Right down the road from my office. Didn't see the crash though. I do see them practicing every day, which is cool. Glad to hear they made it out and no one on the ground was hurt.

Fuck. Glad the crew is ok.

I’m willing to bet I flew that plane going through PIT.

ETA: thumbs up for Martin Baker

Not sure about that smiley picture at the crash site with a BP cuff on though.   That'll follow em around the rest of their AF careers.

I’m glad no one was hurt. The airplane can be replaced.

Yep just crashed a very expensive government property.
Great safety gear nowadays. Glad they get to fly another day.

I was at the airport for this one.

Ejection seats don't whoosh like in the movies. It got my attention and kept it until the aircraft burned into the ground.

Glad no one on the ground was hurt either.  The area around Randolph AFB had gotten surrounded by neighborhoods, stores, and very busy roadways.

Lots of bad things can happen in single engine airplanes.

T-6s at Randolph are for the PIT syllabus. They make instructors out of regular pilots, and then send them off to go teach pilot training. There is a lot of common student error replication, and maybe this went too far.

Knowing absolutely nothing, I’m guessing a turkey vulture to the prop.

Read the wiki on this plane and it is pretty interesting, would be interested in comments on the following;

It was based on a Swiss aircraft but ended up being a basically new aircraft. And of course came in at almost 66% over budget.

Weird psiological effects in the aircraft were experienced suddenly at three different bases?

Air Force sent the Light Attack Aircraft proposal to the wrong address?!?!

Evaluation for the LAX was completed in Feb 2018. What is next? I still doubt LAX will go anywhere.

I see Argentina just took delivery of some in June. I assume production continues, especially with the LAX program?

They are smiling in the one photo. I am not a pilot and I would be quite happy if I survived an ejection. It is conjecture but I think I would be smiling less if the crash was a result of pilot error.

That's no lie.

Graduated from Samuel Clemens in '91.

Garden Ridge, Cibolo, and Schertz seem like different world whenever I visit now.

I live right down the road from where it happened (about 3 miles). I was at work when it happened though.
I'm glad the crew is OK though.

Because that's what Military procurement does best when they try to base a trainer off of an existing foreign designed aircraft.

The T-45 Goshawk for example.

No kidding.  I had guard duty at a crash site out in the middle of no where in the desert near Fallon, NV. We sat there for several days doing jack shit in the middle of a big dry lake bed. They expected us to stand there at parade rest with M16s just incase someone was to sneak up on us across several miles of dry lake bed so they could snag a piece of a 20 year old beat to shit F4 fighter jet.

What happens in the military stays in the military.  I know a clown that landed wheels up because he was a negligent retard, now flies an airliner.
