Yep.  Sports media puts this kind of thing out as a conversation starter during the off season and to raise the blood pressure of some of the fans.

Its pretty brutal without Texas and OU.

We might have to kick the Big 12 out of the “Power 5.”

No one.

Obviously, the Pac 12 has to go also.

The Power Three.

He wasn’t talking about on the field.

“Texas ain’t gonna run the SEC” was referring to what football programs do on a football field.

Saban mentioned Sarkisian and his program so I doubt Saban was talking about SEC women’s golf.

Texas running conferences had very little to do with on the field shenanigans, although suspect officiating was pretty noticeable

OU might have something to say about whether Texas ran the Big 12.

I am not talking about “on the field shenanigans.”

No one is saying he didn’t and he’s certainly entitled to his opinion.  However, there is no denying that it’s easier for someone to make comments like that after they retire and they know they won’t have to face the team they are talking about.

OU only stepped in when they didn't like a decision, but I am curious how it'll go with and for them in the SEC.  If the SEC can keep UT and their massive amounts of money in check they'll be successful.... otherwise the misery will begin shortly

A&M has spent a lot of money too.

With the exception of the COVID season, the best season A&M has had in the past decade was 9-4.

A&M has spent a ton, but UT brings in more money, before extra SEC $$, and boosters have near unlimited funds...

Nobody is ever talking about UT running Big 12 & SWC before that due to on the field performance...

Yeah, well I don't think he was afraid to make comments when he was on the field either.......he rustled jimmies all the time when he was the coach. And in this case I think he's right......don't think the SEC will be a field day for anyone anymore, especially if they expand yet again......which will likely happen

There might have been a few exceptions, but I don’t recall Saban being big on publicly giving the other team “bulletin board material.”

And, yeah, I think he’s right as well.

No, he made statements that pissed sports media and the like off. Saban was very respectful to most every team he played and was friends with quite a few of the other coaches and even many of the players.......but people read what they wanted into his statements. And he didn't care. If I had his money I wouldn't care either.......but it is what it is

His success is unparalleled, and half the SEC HC are his former assistants if not more than that.  Honestly I appreciate some smack talk ala Lane Kiffin but glad not every coach does it.

I especially liked his “Alabama losing to Louisiana-Monroe is comparable to 9/11” comment.

Without looking anything up Smart, Kiffin, Sark, plus a multitude of assistants doing assistant roles

Off the top of my head I'm seeing:

Smart
Kiffin
Sarkisian
Napier

Who am I forgetting?  HCs only.

I'll look some up

Bill Napier UF too

Jeff Lebby is in the coaching tree, as was OC under Kiffin after his time with Saban

Maybe hyperbowl but that does seem like a large number

I pissed at the urinal next to Kiffin once.  Would I qualify as part of the tree?

I'm kidding for the most part but, like you said, probably hyperbole.
Looks like four of the current SEC Head Coaches coached under Saban.  Four out of 16.
