Definitely eye candy in the 80s.

The reboot had multiple types of eye candy!

Along with ear candy.

2nd one was a highly underrated sequel, not a reboot. Better & more approachable/less geeky than the 1st.

I love Tron Legacy, the entire movie was just fantastic ambiance

Soundtrack was excellent.

One of my favorite modern movies.

Some "ambiance" for the thread

Tron Soundtrack - "Castor" - DAFT PUNK

Tron Legacy - Soundtrack OST - 04 Recognizer - Daft Punk

Challenge accepted.

The sequel was absolute garbage. It was a Matrix wannabe with raves and glowsticks, portraying kevin flynn as a 70s steve jobs hipster when the original movie cast him as an 80s yuppie; two vastly different character sets. They completely ditched the 90 degree cycle battles- an iconic hallmark of the original -and decided hey, lets make it so programs can be real life things despite the fact they have no basis of matter in the corporeal universe. Oh, and back to the raves and glowsticks, programs apparently have parties, cocktails, clubs, and full up gladiator arenas with audiences now, because for reasons.

Like Avatar, the Tron sequel was good for one thing: eye candy. Well, the soundtrack was badassery too.

Now i would like to introduce to you the real tron sequeal youve never heard of: Tron Uprising.

A couple seasons, an awesome story and before disney went woke.

Or set the wayback machine-- Tron 2.0
https://store.steampowered.com/app/327740/TRON_20/

The game is actually rock solid with art direction and a minimalist palette that looks good even today.  The story is still so much better than you get from The cinema sequel. Best of all, it will run on even the shabbiest of hardware made anywhere north of 2010.

Flynn got older & "wiser". It happens. The light cycle 90-degree directional switching is most probably due to the limited computing capability at the time. Rendering curved surfaces requires constant recalculation. The light cycle scenes were relatively fast & busy, which made for a heavier computing task. They were using supercomputers at the time, I recall the devs actually had to work in down jackets while coding them due to the environmental refrigeration requirements for cooling.

You are absolutely spot on. The sequel wasn't a Tron movie. It was Disney Tron, and had zero understanding of anyrhing that made Tron so great. What a total waste, it could've been awesome if it wasn't for disney.

The 1st one was also a Disney movie. Go figure.

Those who are fans of the soundtrack should listen to the one where all the songs are remixes with other EDM artists. It's even better.

Of course it was. I expect everyone can see the difference between Disney in the '80's vs what it's turned into today.

Regardless, the entire plot of Legacy was lazy and really stupid. All the polish and cool ambiance just made it even less feeling like it was inside a computer, the original blows it away in that regard. And armies of programs and miraculous lifeforms spawning in a computer and being brought to the real world? They really need to put down the crack pipe. That is as retarded as midichlorians.

I've forgotten what I've seen him in... but something about him just makes me not be able to stand him.

I have the same reaction to Helena Bonham Carter.

For whatever reason she just pulls me right out of the make believe world and all my brain sees is "oh, that's an actor trying very hard to be an actor and this is all fake".

I can't put a finger on why, exactly.

Oh I don't know. Its awfully satisfying to see him get beaten to a pulp. Fight Club and American Psycho were good performances.

I have several complaints about Blade Runner 2049. A big one being that Leto's character doesn't suffer so much as a hangnail for his crimes.

And then there's Morbius. But to be fair to Leto I think the big problem there was that the people who made that movie were too utterly entranced by the smell of their own farts to be able to make a good movie. One of the characters was supposed to be a genius modeled on AOC.

I don't think you can ? that ??.

She looks nice in that pic, but she was hideous in Miami Vice and she was the love interest of Sonny. She played an addicted Phd

I read a few weeks back a 3rd Tron movie was given the green light. I think Jared Leto is going to be one of the main characters.
