I’m so damn confused…here’s what we want and I’m hopeful someone can talk to me like I’m 5 and get me on the right path. 75” TV; we primarily use to watch streamed shows and movies from Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, etc; no gaming. Local TV for news. Wife is anti LG and Samsung so I’m concentrating on Sony. We have an LG OLED in another house and she hates the magic remote! With all said, looking for best Sony, soundbar, etc. for about $2K; can go up a bit if it’s really worth it. I’ve read we might get a Roku or Apple TV box? Please advise. It’s making me nuts with all the options. |

We went with Rokus on standard tvs years ago, so we stuck with it. We have 2 roku tv's TCL brand, cheap ones. 32" and 65". Pick one ecosystem and stick with it, makes it easier with user interfaces, and accounts. I think the 65" tv was around $230, and the 32" was $100'ish. I've stopped wanting the best fanciest TVs, all the great picture quality doesn't fix the script. |

| I think Walmart bought Visio... might want to steer clear of that brand unless you like Walmart ads. Not saying the others don't have ads (usually for their own content), but any "smart" tv is going to try to get as much data from you as possible. |

Yet I have an ONN smart TV, which is truly a Walmart brand and have yet to see a Walmart ad on it, or any ad that is not in the stream I'm watching. Where did you get this info? |

We have two Samsung TVs they are just used as displays. no internet connection, no firmware updates, no apps. Each TV is connected to an AppleTV 4k box that is the brains. it's a "cable box" a game console and a controller hub for smart home and IoT devices. It is the only thing that can connect to the internet and is hardwired to my network. |

Find a tv you like with a remote you can live with. as for subscriptions or whatever, pick an additional box instead of it being integrated. it may mean a second remote, but I think we have all lived with that for a while now. I use the little roku ultra boxes, not the plug in to the back of the tv usb sticks. I have one for each tv and one for travel. that way where ever I go, my tv is the same. All I need the regular tv remote for is to turn off the tv or change the input to hdmi for it to access my roku box. so the tv really only matters for picture quality at that point. as for sound bars, it only matters that the tv and sound bar have optical output and input. but that is now a 3rd remote you have to keep track of. I have both a visio and samsung sound bar. they both seem the same to me. I think the only real difference is if it has a subwoofer as well, which the samsung has. |
| I'd pick the TV you like the picture on and use a different remote to control an external box. I also have an LG OLED and hate the remote. I've never used it outside of initial settings. I use an Apple TV remote and the apps on it for everything, I haven't picked up the LG remote in years. Same for a Panasonic OLED TV. |

I have three of the Walmart ONN TV boxes and an ONN TV. I NEVER ever seen a single Walmart ad and they don't even have any Walmart bloatware on them. |
