Went through the drive thru at Taco Bell the other day...something I don't do often.  Ordered 5 taco supremes (3 for me, 2 for wife) and total with tax was just a hair under $20.  How do people afford to eat out anymore?  I can remember when a taco was $.99 and a supreme was like $1.50.

It seems like we're in a death spiral where wage demands for unskilled labor are racing to price the goods they make/serve out of existence.  How does a Trump economy fix that?

I got lunch today from Jimmy Johns $15.89 for a sandwich, a bag of chips and a drink. No wonder we had a red wave last night.

Keep eating tacos like that and the problem will self correct.

Yeah, TB has gotten ridiculously expensive the last few years. I get like 3 things and it's $16.XX.

I remember when I was a kid in the 90s almost everything on the menu was under a dollar. I remember in 2005-2010ish I used to get 2x beef and potato burritos for lunch at $1.29 each. Less than $3 total for lunch.

At the current prices it makes more sense to just spend $10 more and go to a real Mexican restaurant.

They've found ways to make "premium item menus " pay for the hole business by just putting $.20 more of toppings.

I went to TB for the first time in twenty years last week. Burrito supreme was almost $8, and was sized like the old bean burritos.

And it wasn't shitty, but it certainly wasn't good.

Sorry TB, the fling was not worth it.

Fast food is stupid.

You could’ve eaten real tacos at an actual restaurant for the same price.

You could get legit tacos from an actual Mexican restaurant for cheaper.

When I was in high school I loved their Tostadas.
I heard that they brought them back recently.

So I went there to get a few of them for nostalgic reasons.

Holy shit, the thing was tiny, had hardly any beans, lettuce and cheese.

It was just sad looking in the way it was all put together also. And they wanted $2.50 per.

I don't understand how these fast food places stay in business.

I had a bunch of shit to do last week, needed a quick lunch, stopped into McDonald's, realized all the meat burgers were pulled because of the CIA - Trump put listeria in the food thing.

Got the Chicken Big Mac and a Coke. No fries. $10.

Tasted like ass. Shit bigly later that evening. Zero stars. Do not recommend.

1. You don’t need fifteen tacos from a real restaurant like you do at Taco Bell.

2. Taco Bell exists here too - stupid people live in every state.

Go to another place, use your phone to order food, etc. These are GDs ideas to fix runaway inflation. Just use an app on your phone or go to Juan Miguels hole in the wall in bumbfuck USA, then inflation doesn't happen.

I don't know WTF is up with Taco Bell. It's cheaper to go to the sit down Mexican restaurant in the same shopping center and get three carne asada tacos with a side of beans and rice. Oh and of course the complementary chips and salsa.

And they're way cheaper at the actual Mexican restaurant. Why would anyone eat that garbage?

The old model was to move a lot of volume at low profit.  The new business model (meaning the last 20 years) is to move as little volume as possible at the highest profit possible.  Same as GMC/Ford being VERY willing to move greatly fewer pickup trucks, but near or over $100k each.

Looking on the app, just a bit over $14 here for 5 taco supremes.

Op pulls up to the menu board and looks at the product with a price right beside it.

Op is told the food total by the drive-through person.

Op still pays the price, and eats the food.

Op then starts a thread in GD to complain about the cost of the product he chose to order, and then paid for, even after he knew what the price would be.

Insert pic of old man yelling at tacos.

That's because the profit margins in the fast food business is not the greatest anymore.

When you have to pay one worker at $20/hr while making a product that costs x amount, you need to find ways to cover your overhead costs somewhere.

Right, they shouldn’t be confused.

I like authentic Mexican food, and I like Taco Bell.

I dont know that I’d call authentic Mexican cheaper, especially considering I’m downing a couple margaritas while I’m there.

A large ( and its the same size as a 2018 medium) coke at burger King is 4.08  just a soda...
That's obscene.
Mc Donalds isn't much better 3.99. For a large medium coke.
This is why the democrats got smoked.
Real inflation that we deal with every day is double or triple 2020 prices.
I don't know many people (besides gd millionaires) who's income doubled over 4 years.

It is absurd. Chili’s has a 1/2lb burger with fries and a drink for $12.99.

To get the equal at McDonald’s Burger King or Wendy’s…….. shit.

Fast food is pointless nowadays except for breakfast.

In 1989, standard tacos were .89ea in California.
That's the year I moved to Texas and found they were only .39ea there.  It was, however, a summer special price though.

Heck you can go to McDonalds and get their $5 value meal and a larger drink for well under $6 and it's a ton of food.

Then again, I really enjoy going to McDonalds once a week or so.
