I walked from that one!
After looking at used cars for months, everything was trashed on what I want to spend on him. Trucks were just stupid. 1. Driving my Jeep will be a privilege. You want to drive, work & school better be on point. 2. He can save his money and I will help purchase what he wants when he has the money. This Jeep just didn't say buy me. Plus, the owners were assholes! It did drive well. Their lift kit was a leveling kit and it sat nose high. I know they took less than 18. Don't know how much less. I am still on the prowl and have time. 2 door hard top manuals are harder to find than I thought. Especially, without oil leaks. |

Anyway, I really want a Jeep and they hold their value. I can let 16 use it and buy him something later when he decides where he is going in life. On the Jeep note I kinda miss rowing through the gears. I figure 16 needs to have the ability to drive stick. So a 2 door jeep it is. And Holy crap is there some junk out there. Wife says, she feels safer in a hard top for the kid. I am looking daily and missed several deals. Like traded in and sold same day. I have found this Jeep and they won't come below $18k. The owner swears she had it appraised (what?) and it is $18k and that is what she is sticking with. I mean it has a lift and rims and tires.....actuality is a level kit and 18's wrapped in a 33" narrow tire. The thing is mint but I feel like I am being robbed because they won't come off $18k. The level kit made it nose high and that is fixable. What is the consensus on this fro $18k? Edit: I have test driven and seen it in person. It is very much like new. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/305586102408310/?referralSurface=messenger_lightspeed_banner&referralCode=messenger_banner View Quote Hard top isn't any safer than a soft top. XJ is the answer for kid if your old lady is set on jeeps. Clean one's aren't easy to find and when you do find them expect to pay.

$18K????
Patience is a virtue. I've found that the longer I wait, the sweeter the deal that finally arrives. |

View Quote Honestly, I wouldn't worry about climate control with a soft top. I was plenty happy with my Bestop over this past winter down to -45F wind chill, -15F air temp. Perfectly comfortable with a heavy-ish shirt running the heater on the second or third notch. Maybe it makes a difference for AC? Top and doors usually come off for me long before that's an issue Hard top is probably somewhat quieter, my hearing was too bad to really notice a difference before work blew up in my face, now it's even more moot. |

The hard top is 100% to make the wife happy!
Until 16 proves he can drive and earn the privilege of using the car, the top and doors will probably stay off and it will be in the garage. Since the dog loves all the windows down in the truck, I think he will love afternoon trips to the park in the JEEP. |

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1283700766351786/ This one was listed a few times. It has been regeared to 4.56 and isn't as clean as the other one I posted but I am picking for $15k . This was a complete base model with a soft top. He added the hard top and winch. The only issue is the blend door actuator. Making the trip to pick up tomorrow and trailer home. |

This thread is now relative to my new addition to the fleet . The step son wanted a Japanese vehicle and found a 98 Jeep and we picked it up yesterday. It was an export sent to Japan and is rhd and a metric speedometer.it only has 28,000 miles . The ac clutch failed on the way home. It is a Jeep thing . 4.0 Sahara with a Dana 44 and a limited slip and a hardtop.

What is the best Jeep Forum specific to JK?
I haven't posted pics because the Jeep is filthy. I don't think it was abused because CarFax gave me the service records. It was just a spare vehicle that sat under a lean to and was used when they took the dogs out! Anyways, it runs great and I love driving it. Unfortunately, my son has taken 0 interest because it requires him to earn seat time. |

The best forum I have found: WranglerForum.com - Wrangler JK (Model years 2007–2018)
I also belong to a local FaceBook Wrangler group that has a significant knowledge base. |

If you're tall (or normal height) you might want to try rotating your rear view mirror so that it's upside down... odd? Maybe, but it raises it significantly on the windshield and improves visibility... |
