Update 5/1
It's May 1st  . Yikes. Not many school days left for Seniors.  The larger dragon head is seeing some progress.   A cape for one of our tower fighters is getting painted.  We are cleaning up areas around our tower with some caulk.  Touch up on the head of our dragon also took place yesterday.  Much of the work yesterday was to get one side of the dragon's skin finished and filled in with plastic. We need to paint that today. There is still a bit to do, but most is now done on the left side. We will move to the right side today. Custom ink said, it was a problem on their end with the check, and "it's in the mail." Chests for our viking crew are being made to sit on the long ship's deck. We should have a half dozen or so framed up today, then we can start adding details.  Our viking surf board getting some detail logos.  |

When one (I) lose my balance I step backwards. It would be best to hopefully step down or towards the ground versus stumbling and tripping over the 18 inch tall backrest.  |

Update 5/2
The rush continues. We have a full day today, but my track students are gone.....that's quite a few. Bubbles are starting to populate our undersea mural area.  We had a few areas of the dragon's skin that needed reworked yesterday. The plastic glued in between the scales was either too much, or not glued down enough. Students worked pretty efficiently to get paint down and areas covered from the wings down to the head. We have a bit to go around the head area, but today we will move to the right side of the dragon and begin there.    Little more fog around our village.  Tracing out what we can see of our T-shirt logo on the wall. Getting everything to line up, after the ladder is moved is a bit challenging.   The ceramic portraits are taking too long, but we might see a few ready for hanging in the next couple days.   Our viking surfboard is looking pretty good. We have one more graphic that is being drawn out on it.

I was reminded that next week is our last "full week", only 4 days, with Seniors.  Yikes. The dragon head for our keel is progressing. That is good.   Our surf board is getting it's second graphic. Looking pretty cool!   Dragon scales and skin are still in full throttle mode. We also put up on temp display, two more of our crew members with helmets done. We got many of our "light bulbs" done on the right side of the dragon yesterday. We will work to try to get more done today. I'm hoping we have the skin complete by next Friday. Maybe.    Tshirt graphic on our mural is getting paint.  |

OUTSIDE you say? A scale replica of the Buffalo Bill (Cody) Dam attached to the exterior of the building would be awesome.
It's local to Powell/Wyoming, has a great history and would free up indoor space for next year's project. But building it in the fall/winter and water proofing/winter proofing would be a challenge.  https://bbdvc.com/ |

Make it something that sits in the center of a room and have a water pump recirculating the water around with the rest being resin so only a small amount of water would be needed to flow around the resin to add the realistic movement to it. I don't think they have one with that much room being in the way of people cutting across the corner to take a shortcut. |

Update 5/7 Days are ticking down.
 First, Thank You @pasquale91 This is super cool! It was in my mail this morning! We will get a display set up, and get it on the wall in the F-22 display.   We got a few tiny ravens up on the castle walls Friday.   The poses are pretty spot on for their placement. Kids did a good job with such small details.  We decided we needed a few dragon skulls up on our entry ways to our castle as well.    A few more windows up on our castle. We had to do a bit of carving on the inside of the walls to make room for the windows to fit properly.      T-shirt design getting more paint.  Most of our shields are ready to hang on our longship when we get it up. That might happen later today.  Fog being added to our Viking village.  Our longship's dragon head getting more details......It's going to be close on time.  |

Busy day yesterday. We put up 4 more Valkyrie portraits. We have a bit more work to do on the clouds and fabric around some of them.   We keep making good progress on the T-shirt logo. I also got the check from Customink this morning!  Tower fighters getting more detail paint.  A bit more fog added to the bottom and areas that mate with the wall. We also can see the horn blower stand and horn, now displayed.   And....the most adventurous part of the day... Getting the ship up and hanging.  This is sitting level. We adjusted the list to the ship during the day. We want it listing to the starboard side, so people can see up into the hull, and the deck, where the crew will be. Some people are not a fan of that. We can adjust it back if needed.  Level still.    Adding the sail.   Listing to starboard allows room for the new dragon keel head that is still not done. If there is no list, the head is going to hit the dragon's front foot. Students working to get more scales and plastic skin on the right side of the dragon.  Pretty close on our measurements. Hangs about 8" from the wall.  Working on the rigging.  Now with the lean to the starboard side. I'll grab more pictures today.  |

Little on the too shiny side but it helps pull attention to it so I don't see any major problem with it being glossy instead of matte. Maybe they coated it in whale oil during construction or something. The neat unifnished dragon figurehead can now have a Woops or two on it since it will be stuffed into the flying dragon. One nitpick - Valkyrie on far right seems to have a constrained tonal range and looks like a flat oval with hair up there on the end spot? Add contrast? |

Update 5/9
Regional Track, Soccer, and National Speech and Debate are going to take a tole on students here today and tomorrow. We got most of the rigging done yesterday, then I realized I wasn't thrilled with the hemp type rope we were using, compared to the poly rope we used on the old ship. I did not have much of the old rope left. We decided to do what we could, and replace some of the hemp type rope and I would go shopping last night. Students agreed this was the best plan, but we had to rework much of what we did yesterday.    Poly rope on the outer edges of the sails, the mast support lines are still the hemp. Not sure we will replace those.  It's pretty "full" in there right now. Some students have expressed that it's too much. Little late for that. Late yesterday, we took the castle down to do a first fitting. Seems to be what we were expecting. The stained glass is all done, crows and ravens are up. We will work to get the lights wired today.  Our zombie raven on top of the ghost ship dragon bow.  Students were up in the lift all day yesterday working to finish the scales and skin on the right side of the dragon. We aren't done. I'm hoping we have legs on for the group picture next Wednesday.   Students are still working on axes, spears, and swords for our crew members. We will start placing crew members later today or tomorrow.  |

Crazy fast Friday about to commence again. Mural design is still coming along well. Good painters are making pretty quick work of it.  Camouflaging the cords today. Students zip-tied cords together to look cleaner, and now we are painting them to match the tile, as well as the mural.  Accent lights added yesterday to light up our old shield and sword.  This didn't make my scale and skin painters happy, but we added the rear leg yesterday. It's a tight fit now.     Late yesterday we played around with posing some of our crew. We decided we need something to make them a bit more rigid and stand up better. We will work to add some lath up the leg and under the clothing.  Mural is still not done, but it is something we can do after the seniors are gone. Raven on the ghost bow looks pretty good.  Little more fabric up with the Valkyries.  I thought I'd see more work on the heart and lungs, but kids are gone again. I've seen some preliminary work on the mechanisms for the lungs, heart, and castle gates. Hopefully we see more very soon. Little ravens around the castle tops.   Lights up.  One of my outstanding seniors offered to take the dragon head home yesterday to set the eyes, and get the eye lids done on it. She sent me pictures last night on her progress.  Dragon skulls for our castle entrances getting horns and spikes.  |

I'm a little concerned the insulation, drywall,electrical & plumbing on the castle interiors looks...unfinished. I'm pretty sure you're not going to get a Certificate of Occupancy on that. Of course, the Uniform Commercial Code for 956 seems a little...out of date.

Kids were off this afternoon, but I was not. No big meetings so I spent a few hours working on the dragon.
We noticed a few days ago lights from the hips to his tail are out. I got up in the lift and spent about 1.5hrs locating the cut in the line and splicing in a new section. I ordered splices the last time we cut the lights in the castle. It paid off. I got the lights working again, and ended up taking the back leg off again so we can get to the skin better. I also did a bit of painting up high where most students won't be able to reach. Hopefully we can get on track to finish the skin next week. |

Update 5/13 Last week (4days) for Seniors. Two of those will be partial days for them. Today and tomorrow are regular schedule for them. They will be working on their portfolios in Art, so very little will get done on the project by them. It's going to be up to the underclassman to get this all finished in the next two weeks.
  Progress on Friday.....hind leg is still on in this picture.  Late Friday, after I took the leg back off.  Working on the neck area.  Crew members, initially placed, but not yet fully displayed.  We need to add weapons and a surfboard, but these are installed.  Mural logo .....   Chests for our long ship are getting painted and detailed. They will be installed on the deck and under several crew members.  Installing the fighting vikings on the tower. We also have one inside the tower.   Robotics installing the control arms inside the lungs.  Here is a first look at adding power to the motors to see how the actuator arms work. They are just holding the connections to the battery, so it's little hit and miss as they make the connection. They will slow it down with the arduino so they aren't moving so fast.  2nd Age of Vikings-Dragon Lungs |
