It's the original 5122 double-cut design with the not so nicely called -- "Gretsch-buckers" for pickups instead of the more famous Filtertrons. Gretsch snobs all over the internet would rip the pickups out of it, and install 3rd party higher quality pickups, such as TV Jones or the original Filtertrons. Problem: It's a Gretsch, but yet with the lesser quality Korean made pickups, it sounds like an imitation Gibson ES-335 (according to the Gretsch snobs on the internet). Complaint: It doesn't have the famous, legendary, "Gretsch Twang". My solution: I used a Parametric EQ within my Boss Katana, and brightened up the tone, enhanced the clarity, etc... Win-Win!!

I don't NEED a 335 type. I do want one though. I love my short scale Gretsch g2220 bass. I'd love a G5422TG in white.
I think for as ridiculous as it is I also want a G6134TG Paisley Penguin because it's so ridiculous. That's not for this thread though. |

It’s got me wanting one pretty bad but at the moment I’m pretty guitar poor but they’re making it in blueberry burst (my favorite), bourbon burst, and seafoam green. |

VOX Bobcat V90 with smeared condensation from taking it out into the hot, humid OK summer from the AC.  Attached FileIbanez AS73  Attached FileI'm considering another of the VOX Bobcats with 3 single coil pickups. https://reverb.com/item/58528334-vox-bobcat-s66-cherry-red Several finishes and a couple have the Bigsby are available from Korg USA on Reverb. I thought these were gone at the discounted $500-$550 (including a nice case), but showed up on slickdeal again recently. My online reading on these indicate they are a wonderful buy at the discounted price. Even Tim Pierce tried them out on his youtube.  VOX AC30. V90. V66. Reissues. How Do They SOUND? |

I pulled it out and have been playing it some and it’s not too bad now. Mostly it’s stable and every once in a while it’ll throw a few cents sharp or flat on a string. With the stock abr-1 it would always throw out of tune though. Some notes slightly sharp, some slightly flat. I always use graphite in the nut slots also, and this one has a proper cut nut. The string height is good for me, but the bridge is bottomed out. I keep string height about 0.07” on the bass side and 0.06” on the treble. |
