Has anyone by chance tried the Dickel Single Barrel 15? There's a little of that in my area, and it looks intriguing. But I'm a fan of Tennessee Whiskey in general, and realize it's not everyone's thing.

Went to a small drop this morning.
Picked up a ETL. There were better things available but it's been so long since I have even tasted any I just couldn't pass it up. There wasn't a huge turn out due to the weather and I got to go back through and get a second bottle. Hope I like the HH. The Blue note was not part of the drop. Just a great store pick. But I picked up a few other (nicer) bottles the past week or two and they have tasted fine/good/as expected. So I don’t know. |

Higher demand = younger bottles in batches. I'd also wager the barrels are being made by younger and younger growth Oak. Everything that goes into making Bourbon affects the finished product, and everything being used nowadays just isn't as good as it used to be. |

A way of adding a little more proof punch to the W12. |

I finally found a bottle of Buffalo Trace today. First impression is that it's pretty rough, but I had just opened it. I'll give a few more tries before making a final judgement.

A way of adding a little more proof punch to the W12. This is literally the only bourbons I’ve ever mixed, after hearing about it on a FB group. You should do it at least once. Anything nicer than Weller green label is unobtainium in my area. I lucked into a handle of Weller 12 and a regular Weller 107 a few years back. I’ve been nursing them for all they’re worth. 1-3 glasses a year. But I 100% make a batch of poor man’s Pappy once or twice a year. It’s a very unique flavor, and imo is worth trying once. |

Problem is more and more liquor stores are charging secondary prices now. Store in my area that has been reasonable in the past wants $60 per bottle for Buffalo Trace and $300 for EH Taylor small batch. Hell, I'd take $200 for the Taylor I have and get 5 bottles of JD Triple Mash if they're paying that much. |

Even in the worst of the boom here in Texas, EHT SmB was $150, tops. Maybe some greedy Indian or Arab store owner would have it at $200, but $150 was the going rate. It's $80 now and the drops at the bigger box stores that don't mark up are becoming a regular thing now. |

Buffalo Trace and green label Weller are usually available right near MSRP, even in my podunk town. EH Taylor and Eagle Rare are less available, but can be found a little higher than MSRP around here.

It's just a marketing thing and the 101 "Private Barrel" is replacing the Kentucky Spirit "Private Barrel". Honestly doesn't make a lot of sense to me unless it's just a way to inflate the price of a bottle by a few bucks. |

For those of you in VA. KO Distilling Bottled in Bond is really freaking good. My usual go to Bourbons are 4 Roses Small batch select, Woodford Double oaked, KO Distilling Bottled in bond. I've had Michters before but wasn't overly impressed. Most of the hard to get stuff is way overpriced so I won't even bother with it.
