A quick blast from the past for Mark. My dad in his Navion, sometime in the 70's. It has been pointed out to me, that there is a case of Schlitz in the back seat..I'll have to ask about that one of these days.

Seems I'm one of the less qualified pilots here. I've been flying this one since it was delivered new two years back. Before that I flew our PC12/45 since delivery in 2004. Before that it was cargo in Cessna 402. I'm sorta bored of Pilatus and thinking about looking for something else if the job market ever rebounds. May go back to cargo to find some more multi time.

So 90% of the flight is done at 1/2 throttle or less. Flights can be stretched to 20+ min if you go easy. I have a similar setup for goofing off.

Flew solo for the first time 10/18/2010. Here are a few pics of the event. My family and a couple friends came out.
Flying a 2001 Cessna 172R. 
ETA: This was a go around actually with my instructor still but thought it was a cool picture. No reason for the go around, just practicing.

As for the nuts and bolts of driving it, if you can fly a bonanza and know your way around an FMS, you can have your way with it. It is literally embarrassingly easy to fly. Every year at recurrent sim training I try to avoid telling the other students what I'm there training in. Rob |

I've noted they have made it a little harder to get a complex/high perfromance here of late. It's a catch-22 of sorts ... you gotta have so many hours in type before they will insure you, a chicken and the egg sorta thing. I got mine in 2000 in my Navion ... IIRC, at that time they only required 30 hours dual. |
