I like the normal episode length stuff he has been doing. I feel like he has some wind back in his sails. I, personally, have about had enough of all of the 2-3hr interviewers. All of them, from Rogan to Jesse. I rarely watch them now. I am so fatigued by something that could be a pointed 30min-1hr interview. If AJ wants to make money interviewing people, make the, less than an hour. Hell, 30 min interviews would probably crush the market. |

Hell, 30 min interviews would probably crush the market. Huge +1 I feel kind of bummed when this thread is bumped and it turns out to be a basement episode instead of the format that made him big. He got big because he had Something New. A show that caters to all the weird but unexplained things to urban legends, then covers the debunk side afterwards. That was new and he should stick with it. He's VERY ADHD (pot/kettle here) and I'd say he doesn't like the long form interviews either, but the YouTube algorithm is pushing for longer videos to pay more or something. Comparing his interviews to say, Rogan, they just doesn't flow the way Rogan interviewing the same person does. If he could do a long form interview, and then chop out all the stuff the the usual suspects already know and easily break under an hour, possibly 15-45 minutes if re-interviewing somebody that has already done the rounds. A "No Foreplay and No cuddling" version would definitely bring viewers back to looking forward to his releases. --ETA: The one thing that confuses me with the long form videos and the influencers say it's because of youtube while at the same time, youtube shorts is heavily promoted, from page of youtube is shorts and had to find the "normal" videos. The top influencers (>10 Million subs) put out short videos, example is Davie504 (14 million subscribers) which is kind of like a 5 minute or less Seinfeld deadpan with roughly the outline of bass guitar. He doesn't stop and promote anything in his videos and is a millionaire from just doing sort of a "inside joke a day" format. I am not sure what the deal is with others and their video lengths which all get blamed on the algorithm, I'm thinking there's more thing to it than that. $ |
