I like it, looks awesome. What does the Denali look like?? Off to look now.
The Sierra AT4 is on my short list (I need a truck otherwise I’d be all over a Yukon). I hope they update the interiors of those to be more in line with these new Yukon’s. |

Damnit.... I just cleaned these underwear.
OP, I actually like it. I'd let my wife drive it. I want a LR Defender crew-cab. See Himalaya Defender. |

Got one of those in my driveway right now.

Looks ok at best. The new Chevy trucks make me . I don’t know what they are doing over there, but they need to fire everyone in design. Also not a boomer.

No, but assumed I wouldn’t get 15 mpg in town and 17 highway. Also assumed it’d be able to get out of my own way driving one. That didn’t happen either. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

You bought one for lots of power and gas mileage? Peak power at 4k is rough, but if you tromp the skinny pedal, it goes. |

OP I completely agree. I currently have a 2013 Z71 Tahoe 4x4 and will most likely be the owner of one of these new AT4s. I think they did an incredible job with the 1500 AT4’s and these look great as well. My biggest gripes with the GM options over the years have been on the engine selection. To get the 6.2L you had to go to the denali (or most recently “Premier Plus” on the Chevy side which is a lot more exp. and brings 22” wheels which I don’t want). I’m just tired of the 5.3L (I own/have owned 5 vehicles with that engine now) and want an off-road-ish vehicle. My perfect vehicle would be a 6.2L Z71 Tahoe in the current generation which isn’t possible. Now its an option (as well as the diesel in the GMC version...the Z71 doesn’t get the diesel for some odd reason). That’s good stuff.
I’m not sure how I feel about the IRS on these though. The ground clearance suffers materially at the rear on these 2021s because of it. The airbag suspension is neat however but not sure what height you can regularly drive them around in. I know the highest setting is just for 4L. |

Now THAT is sexy.....

Kind of making my brain hurt.
They (GM fullsize SUVs) are supposed to have 22"+ Chinese wheels with 35 series rubber on them and either be piloted by urban folks or some starbucks toting suburban soccer mom/Karen. Those of you complaining that the 4runner is dated. Be careful what you wish for. Next 4runner could be a unibody, FWD based crossover like what has happened to every other midsize SUV. Sometimes dated is better. And people posting pictures of 30+ year old classic SUVs. They are fantastic to look at but you would hate your life if you had to daily drive one, especially if you have a highway commute. Slow, ride like shit, handle like shit, have little to no creature comforts. I am speaking from experience here, I have a 30+ year old 4x4 truck. It is fun to drive around town but longer trips and freeway driving is miserable and borderline unsafe (not lack of safety features so much as lack of horsepower, braking and handling capability compared to modern vehicles). |
|
I'm with OP and am liking the new AT4 and Tahoe Z71. Having the diesel option in the Tahoe/Suburban now is a nice touch too, but not being available in the Z71 trim is just dumb to me. Prices on all of these things new are sure to be beyond stupid though, so at the end of the day it really doesn't matter to me.
Thread rules: I'm 29, drive a '10 Sierra 1500 Z71. |

I don't understand why GM makes these "off road" versions of their flagship SUVs. How freakin often are you actually going to use it to its full potential? Makes no sense to me especially when these are going to run $50-60k starting price.
I am, however, interested in seeing in person GMs new stuff once they hit the lots this summer. I've already test drove a 2019 Ford Expedition and was 100% impressed. Now that the 2021 Tahoes/Yukons have been released, Ford has to step up the game with their driver/passenger interior. I wouldn't buy a newly released model though from any manufacturer. Wait a year for all the kinks to be worked out. Even with just 2 kids, I need more interior space and a WAY nicer quality of ride compared to my shitty minivan. Peeps are gonna buy these GM products like hot cakes. Basically every 5th car on the road in my area is a Tahoe or Suburban. |
