Chick flick? GF wanted to go see it this past weekend. When telling a buddy of mine he claimed it was a love story/chick flick... We watched it and I didnt get that vibe. I mean there is a little bit of "romance" I guess.. But not much at all.. I thought the movie was ... Decent. The OG was clearly better.

All the 20 something actors speak like they're doing a youtube livestream. It seems like they have no natural conversational flow, even when making a damn movie where you could do it over again.  Two people speaking to each other but it sounds like they're really speaking at each other just delivering their lines

It's a good compromise movie.

Enough action for most male viewers, enough of a romance for the ladies to enjoy.

Some decent laughs.

Just go in knowing it's a movie and not a documentary, and accept that science and physics do not apply.

If you like modern country, the soundtrack is solid.

That's bad direction more than anything.

The original was slightly cheesy but overall pretty awesome. The new one flipped the original good guys and bad guys and also had the all-powerful girl boss. It sucked donkeys but I wouldn't call it a chick flick.

The tornados are the stars but you have a love story going on in the background, sorta like the original.

I am taking my granddaughters (10 and 8) tomorrow evening to see it. I'll try to get to the theater a little on the late side, after all/most of the woke movie previews are over.

I don't know what kind of movie it is.

It looks more boring to me than the first one,
but if you enjoyed most of it, good!

The first movie gets more respect in 2024 than it did in 1996 if anyone can recall that far back.  Even though it did really well back in 1996 it was treated purely as a popcorn movie and not as any serious piece of cinema.  Viewing the new movie through that same lens, I'm going to say it was decent.

We saw it at the local $5 theatre Friday. It was OK, but honestly a remake with some tiny plot adjustments.

It was exactly what I remember the first one being like, just new people. They even had the man/women saving each other by tying down to the plumbing scene.

Not a chick flick but would definitely be a great date night movie.

I enjoyed it.  It was predictable, but fun enough.

Only wokeish thing I noticed was that the Storm Par bad guys weren’t nearly as diverse as the good guy Tornado wranglers.

Not a chick flick.
A+ Special effects
B for acting
D- for plot/script.  If you did not figure out the ending in the first 30 minutes, you were sleeping.

Doesn't make it a "chick flick".

The science aspect of the story was stupid as hell. It was fun, not terrible, not great.

Love triangle?  That sounds familiar.

I’m sure it’s going to suck. The first twister is the only movie I have ever paid for and then walked out of after about 10 minutes. Such a stupid fucking movie. And I loved Bill Paxton.

I thought it was pretty good,  Until I saw it was based on the story of some science.  I thought it was really cool they were able to prove their idea worked, obviously the last bit was embleshed.
Nope it was all embellished their work was theoretical and never tested successfully. A tribute to a scientist that failed..
Wife enjoyed the movie alot.

Lol. The "old friend" (Javi)  was (supposedly) previously in a relationship with the business partner (Scott, the one he left on the side of the road near the end of the movie). Part of the subtle wokeness of the flick.

I recently watched "Supercell" that stars dead Anne Heche and murdering Alec Baldwin and it wasn't too bad.  Entertaining, but forgettable enough I had to look up the name again.

It was predictable because it payed a healthy level of homage to the original with some obvious, and also some very subtle nods to Twister, and the original being my favorite movie, I picked up on most of them I'm sure. All the way down to what Kate was wearing in most scenes.

I rather enjoyed it. And it was not a chick flick.

You mean like the love triangle in the first movie?

Just rewatched it tonight with the boys. It was entertaining.

Your "Buddy" is a closet gay, he is scared of deep desire to be abused by another man

Hence calling it a "chick flick"

Wife and insaw it when it came out.  I didn't know anything about it except I thought it was either a remake or going to be a horrible prequel/part 2 of the original.   In the end... it was ok.  There were a few nods to the original but imo it was it's own movie.  The love story was dumb.

There was no love triangle. There was only a budding romance between the meteorologist and the "tornado wrangler". Even that was just getting off the ground at the end of the film. The movie was basically about the meteorologist getting over her past tragedy.

Nope, we saw it in IMAX and then went home and watched the original. I think it is one of the best movies Hollywood put out this year. It felt like Hollywood of the past and they did an excellent job giving respect to the original. It was a fun movie, especially in a big theater.

I lasted maybe 15 minutes into this new POS before I fell asleep.  My wife finished it and said it was just "ok"

I have no desire to finish watching it.
