I'm also a big fan of the YZ500R throwback.

Maybe I'm more a fan of glory days racing than actual beauty.  Not sure.

About 2 or 3 weeks later it was back and I had to have it.
I need to remove, clean and set the carbs, that is about it mechanically. I did new tires, fork seals, changed the cannister style oil filter to a screw on one and replaced the stock exhaust. It's in great shape and I want to preserve it.
I replaced the diaphragm clutch pressure plate with a barnett coil spring one. It is a totally different bike now..shifts much easier up and down, no clunk when I shift and if I grip it and rip it I better be hanging on tight.

I always thought the 80s FJs were beautiful fast bikes.

I had one of those as a kid. Seems like WFO in 5th it would top out at about 52mph. Was a blast.

I bought a left over in 1986.
Got a killer deal on it.

Toomey's, K&N filter, Dynojet jet kit, battery relocation kit, Teleflex fork brace, Russel steel braided lines, EMGO "racing" brake pads.
The bike was a blast to ride!
The guy I sold it to went racing at Willow, he pulled the oil injectors off and crashed it one weekend, then seized it up the next.

Japanese bikes never inspired me much. Ducati, Aprillia, MV Agusta are absolute works of art. The Harley Davidson FL's and a few other models ring some bells from me but not as much as the Italian offerings.
