If going with old and used, Littlestown (Littco) are solid as well.

I need to replace my old Chinese vise that I repaired over 20 years ago.  I cracked the base beating the shit out of it a couple days ago.

I'm looking at these three options:

Yost Tools 880-D2 Industrial Grade 8" Reversible Vise, Chinese, 60ksi ductile iron, $300.  Reversible, so jaw opening goes to 12.5" when reversed; a pretty handy feature.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0792QB7TX/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&;psc=1

Yost Tools 865-D2 Industrial Grade 6.5" Reversible Vise; same as the 8" above but smaller.  $230

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0792Q71Q5/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&;psc=1

Capri Tools 10517 Ultimate Grip Forged Steel Bench Vise, 7"; Taiwan made, supposed to be much better than China-made.  90ksi drop forged steel with cast base.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015NI2AIS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2ZSTDEXO9VTZF&;psc=1

That is a copy of a Yost, not sure who it is actually made by.

I have one of these and I love it.

Wilton machinist vice

Yep the machinist is near the top of the heap.  I have the us made tradesman and love it. About half the cost of the machinist. Here's mine with 4.5 inch jaws. Also grab the magnetic jaw covers with the rubber non marring surface for delicate work.  Attachment Attached File

Keep an eye on craigslist, facebook marketplace, etc. Find an old one in good shape. They are probably better than new ones anyway.

Hollands machinist vise. Jaws open to 14"

A bit high on price.

I'd offer $40-45 depending on condition.

It's in good shape, still has teeth on jaws.
He wants $50 but it needs to ship to me so $15 for that.

If you have a Northern Tool in your AO, these are on sale for $94.

I had been looking for a decent vise for a while. Bought the last two my store had.
