50 year old nerd, here. I remember Tron as a kid. I enjoyed the occasional rewatch on VHS. I really loved Tron Legacy. Never played the PC games, just a few tokens in the old arcade version. I wasn't very good at it. Never watched Tron Uprising. I watch a lot of Critical Drinker/Nerdrotic/Film Threat/Clownfish TV on YouTube. Maybe too much. I went to see Ares on Friday in IMAX 3d. 3d wasn't great, but maybe that's my astigmatism. I didn't hate it, like the above-mentioned channels told me I should. For a Tron film, and God knows they're already not paragons of plot or characterization, it was actually pretty decent. A good writer might be able to tie things together in a fourth film and wrap things up. Ares is looking like a flop at the box office, so the bean counters will probably not authorize another film. It's a pity. Great NIN soundtrack, though. I will probably get that in vinyl. Stay for the mid-credits scene. | I don't know if I'll go to the theater to see it (I should, it would be good to go see a movie on the big screen again, haven't been since I went to see "Avengers: Endgame") but I'll definitely watch it. I have Tron and the sequel on DVD and need to sit down and give them a watch again, it's been a while. Somewhere I have a toy "Identity disc" from Tron Legacy that lights up that I bought at Target when the movie came out for my movie prop collection. I need to dig that out. |

Gotta at least watch it once in the theaters. I had the same disc. I took it apart and replaced the lights with higher powered leds. Didn't last long. I didn't know about heat sinking so it burnt up. lol |

I'm always wowed by the SFX. Just like the two previous films. ;) I bought the soundtrack on CD and ripped it. It's on my phone, now, in heavy rotation. Vinyl would have been nice, but not at twice the price. Best, JBR |

While a consultant is convincing the company to not kill the server, Flynn is trying to convince the programs they must migrate to a new home. |

It was terribly OK. That's cool for a movie in the middle of an active franchise. Not great for a movie aimed at reviving a franchise. Leto needs to let the Beard go. Should have done more inside the Grid (or revisited the "New Grid" from Legacy, a decade after being freed from CLU). The whole aspect of a software-based civilization was missing. Didn't like that the Recognizers and other Grid-origin stuff basically ran on Magic, once they printed them out in the Real World. VFX were awesome. There was a lot of good stuff, and great bones for storytelling......but it just didn't gel. |
