It was created from .338LM casings by shortening the casing by 25mm and utilising .408 Cheytac projectiles. It is meant for covert precision shooting for distances of up to 600m and has seen use by Russian Special forces in recent conflicts. Sounds about right. .300 blk takes about 28 mils to get to 600 from a 100 yards zero and BC doesn't make much difference for subsonic velocities. |

Wonder what ever happen to the golden AKs that belonged to Saddam, his sons, and other various ME leaders that have been killed, or removed over the last decade or two?

View Quote Handguns are beyond the economic reach of ordinary Iraqis, whose daily wage would be considered outstanding at equivalent of 10USD. (a well used AK at about 400USD intended for home defense is even beyond reach for many) If an "average" Iraqi citizen is found to be carrying a pistol, there is the possibility of summary execution. Unless of course, one is capable of paying an on the spot hefty bribe. That said, it's not uncommon for medical professionals, the wealthy, or persons of political stature to carry pistols (or have armed body guards) since kidnapping is commonplace. |

View Quote Wonderful use of taxpayer funds. Chances are they get FMS'd to some foreign military or given as aid to "friendly" fighters down the line, only to fall into the hands of terrorists through the black market or negligence. If not just crushed without ever having seen a battlefield. |

Most are assembled in local machine shops. (never inquired as to their cost) ETA. Basically any weapon type can be found in the black market, for a price, and realization of the consequences if found in possession. |
