Recently you have seen a shift from being asked to make compromises with anti gunners, to being targeted with policies that seem designed to irritate you, and now you are being encouraged not to comply, either legally ("grandfathering") or otherwise. You are told that non compliance is the answer, the time for compromise has passed.

Maybe you are confused about what's happening, so let me share with you what is the plan:

Phase 1: Compromise. Impose "sensible" policies that few really disagree with. Set a precedent and expectation that there should be policies. Get people to accept the idea of being regulated.

Phase 2: Inconvenience. Enact laws that harass, irritate and inconvenience gun owners. Build registries. Appear reasonable by "grandfathering". Don't worry about compliance, success results from demonizing gun owners and reducing their numbers.  Make gun ownership costly.

Phase 3: Ban. With few gun owners left, with few young people getting involved, opposition has dwindled. With good registries of who the holdouts are and what they have, crack down. Add real teeth to the laws. Seize guns. Arrest the  holdouts or just wait for them to die of old age.

Phase 4: Only police and criminals have guns.

Welcome to phase 2.

Phase 3 is when it gets spicy.

2A is there for a reason. It's why we're not at phase 4 yet.
Familiarity and prolonged exposure without incident leads to a loss of appreciation of risk.

most people have caved in to vax mandates to keep their jobs...  do you honestly think they are willing to fight for their gun rights?   they are not.

It doesn't matter. Reducing the number of gun owners is a 35 year plan. Once gun owners are no longer a significant political force 2A can either be amended or simply corrected with the right set of Supreme Court judges.

Phase 3 is likely 30-40 years away. Old age will take care of the holdouts, their guns can be seized from their estate, in probate. Their executor will comply, even if they never do.

I feel a big grab is coming sooner than 30 years.

Hope I'm wrong.

This is a 200 year plan.

It's too easy to think on shorter time frames because the US is relatively young.

Quite literally, from my cold, dead hands.

The problem is, the only way to fight back is really through increasing exposure and usage of firearms among the young. There's a sociological challenge  there. As I believe Churchill said " If you're not a liberal in your 20s, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative in your 30s you have no money". While I don't recognize it to be I inherently true, it does reflect the trend of younger voters being drawn to the liberal message. It's very hard to shift that liberal, idealistic thought process in a generation that simultaneously rejects many of the foundational ideals that created this country... collective innovation, nationalism, independent spirit, hard work being the key to success.

Their norm, as guns go, is that some regulations are good. Thus, they feel like in the spirit of compromise that they can give e a little, further eroding our rights. Unfortunately, as a society, our fathers gave up a little, as did our grandfathers. Eventually there will be nothing left to give.

I guess my point is, it's all lost without a strategy that draws the next generation into the fold.
