I walked into a local jewelry store. The guy has a boat load of new and used Rolex’s . I’ve been making a run at a 2017 Rolex Date Just ref. 166234. He wanted $10K. Complete set, white dial, fluted bezel and oyster bracelet . Had box and cards etc. I think he’s too high price wise. I made an offer of $7500 . He said no. He did come down to $9K. I’m a buyer at between $7500-8400 OTD. Be bought watch from a retired guy who needed cash. I assume he paid 5-6K. The watch has a company logo on the case back. Don’t bother me but it is leverage. Anyone give me some insight on what I should be paying? |

I think the model is a 116234 The engraving on the case back be cleaned up fairly easily. But about $8,500 - 9,000 is where it should be bought at. Below 8k is a unrealistic number This is one of those watches that should be bought at the AD. They are fairly easily to get. Even with no spend history, hit uo several ADs you should able to get on this year. Spend alittle buy more and get new. |
| You've probably seen the online prices from $7500-$9000. What he's asking isn't insane. The 116234 was made for a long time. Have you looked up the Serial Number for a date range? If he doesn't know the service history (with documents) you should assume it needs to be serviced and probably not go above what you've already offered. |

I brought up the fact that it would need service soon. It ANIB, but I know there is a range. I’m trying to close the gap between buy and ask. I think we may be $750-1000 apart. On the other hand I can go a little more “Gray” and get the same configuration for $10-12K on a newer watch. |

For reference, I just had my Grandfather's 1975 Date (not Datejust) serviced, it had been serviced probably 10 or more years prior....it was a tad over $1K all said and done - so, some ammo for you to use, hopefully, to your favor. |
