They probably charged you a fee to buy it. I bought $6 worth of a penny stock on Schwab and it kept saying I was down $56. There was a fee I didn't notice when I bought it.

I've bought a number of OTC stocks last couple of days and I know and see the fee when placing the order, but then no where is the 6.95 included in cost of shares. I am certain that will be updated at some point |

Picked up a few more MVIS at 10.01. I sold 1/3 of my position on Tuesday while in a meeting, not expecting it to run as much as it did. Got in a bit higher but still have a $5 avg

It maybe there now, but I swear when I bought it, it was not there. I was going to buy something else as well as a book mark. Saw the fee on that one and did not buy it. Went to this one, looked for the fee and did not see it, so I bought it.

I see what you are are posting, but I am saying when I bought it, it was not there. I LOOKED for it. I would not have bought 1 share if it had the fee, just like the one that showed the fee I did not buy.

NASDAQ and NYSE are commission free. Pink sheet/OTC stuff is a flat commission per trade. |

I had poor timing and sold all my MVIS at 8.80 so I could move the funds to a Roth, where I intended to repurchase at what I hoped would be a lower price. Of course it ran up 1.50 since then (Damn!). (Next time I will make sure to have a slush fund so I don’t have to sell first to do that kind of thing. Still waiting on sale funds to settle.) I appreciate all the info and I think it is still a good play so I will buy back in so I am involved whenever things come to fruition. I doubled my money so I cannot complain. I started a brokerage account just to purchase it. Doing more research made me realize that while MVIS was a good buy and hold, I wanted to be involved in others as well, so I trickled in more money over a short time and am up 40% overall. It was enough that I decided I needed to help shield it from taxes, so I started the Roth so my gains could be tax free. I just picked a terrible day to sell it appears. Either way I have been having fun, made $2500 in 6 weeks or so, trickling in about 1k a week during that time. And I just started a new Roth account as a result. Was looking for something interesting to do after retiring and research and investing seems it might be worth staying involved with. My retirement 457(b) is dull as dirt but makes money, but after this experience in small trading I have decided to put a small percentage of that into a linked TD account so I can have a little more to play with. Also, I bought a few shares in a real rocket company a few days ago, which is pretty damned cool. Also they are up 20+ % since then so that helps as well! For everyone else- glad to see everyone make some serious gains the last two days. If doing for long term you should think about putting a brokerage account inside a Roth IRA so you don’t have to pay taxes when you take it out someday. I am retired so I can pull funds from my 457(b) without any penalty (gotta pay taxes though) so it makes sense to shield earnings in a Roth if I am going to play this game. I have made too much money to be able to do a Roth the last few years, but after retiring I am back under the threshold. Also I think the Dems are gonna screw us on income tax rates so the more you can pay today under the Trump tax cut bracket rates the better, at least in my situation it makes sense anyhow. If you are going to work hard at investing, there is no need to pay taxes you don’t have to. Just keep in mind you can’t pull Roth money until age 59 1/2 generally. View Quote Keep the faith, nothing appreciates in a straight line. Wouldn't surprise me to see a healthy pull back today. That $.68 stock cost you $7.63. Originally Posted By ZeBool: Hey, it throws me off on TD Ameritrade too. They claim there is a fee, but I never see that fee show up anywhere. It's easy to miss if you are buying 1500 shares at $0.0875 per share. ETA NVM, that's how TD does it on the mobile app. I actually ike the eTrade way of listing the fee better. I wonder if TD shows it more clearly if you go through the website. |
