What kind of profits are you seeing from multiple dips? And do you have to invest over $25k each time, in order to not be flagged for day trading?

Sold all but 1 share at $3.47, just so it stays on the top of my Robinhood list.

I use TD for my accounts
Here's their rules on day trading

FINRA defines a day trade as any position that is bought and sold (or sold and bought) on the same day in your account. A pattern day trader is defined as anyone who places four or more day trades in their margin account over any rolling 5-business day period. PDT rule does not apply to cash accounts. Therefore, TD Ameritrade allows unlimited number of day trades on cash accounts

I don't trade on margin and I try to limit myself to no more than 3 trades per day of the same stock

Does that have anything going for it or is it purely a momentum play?

Playing the momentum. As soon as I buy I enter a sell at 3-5% over my cost
My goal is 2% a day across my entire account. This account was just for day trading but
now it holds MVIS which makes 2% daily gains harder

While I was typing this I sold 80% of my RNWK at $2.11.
I'll put a sell on the last 20% at $2.20 and see what happens

I made the potential mistake of switching to a margin account -- not because I trade on margins, as much as transfering cash in takes so long that I will use margin up to the limits of my pending transfers.  Patience is not one of my virtues.

Many years ago I flipped a house and took the profit and open a Merrill Lynch margin account.
This was just as the dot com era was tanking. Tried to make my losses up in oil.
Lost almost $10,000 in 6 months
Valuable lesson

That's worse than the PDT restrictions.

Cash accounts require a settlement period for all trades and transactions. With waiting for your trades to settle it'd likely be very difficult to actually trigger enough daytrades in a rolling 5-day period to even hit the PDT restrictions.

RH's instant settlement option uses... wait for it... margin!

So by going "cash only" you lose instant settlement.

I’m cash only and have instant settlement.

Man I was hoping for an entry on GNUS with limit orders at $1.41, $1.51, & $1.61 @1k shares each. I want to hold it past the 6/15 launch figuring we'll see some movement by then.

Well today it's up to $2.38 already

Yup.

Take $1000, make small short plays and build up.  It isn't hard to build a base to trade from on .20c moves.  Damn if I'd ever trade on margin.

The only thing that truly concerns me right now is the M-gen's 20 second attention span. If they're truly in talks right now there's going to be comm-out that could run several weeks to months. Investors with serious stakes will sit tight, but the 500 share guys are going to get jittery.

No anticipated events until the mid-Aug R/S, if they wait that long. If they don't, there better be a deal or major announcement tied in tight right behind it. $0.88 feels like a solid floor right now, but they can't take that for granted, the shorts will run at it.
