My $3.50 SENS puts executed. I'm not mad as I think the stock is going up still, but it was so close. I sold those puts ITM which netted a pretty good premium.

Nebraska is a high tax state due to a large agriculture foot print and lower population. Or at least that is what our fine politicians tell us.
There is no long versus short term difference in capital gains here, it's all treated as income and taxed at that rate.
Over $64,430/married filing joint = 6.84%. Of course federal is a different story but we're all in the same boat there.

Strike price spread is $5, seems wide. Does the pps fluctuate enough?
Trading volume average under a million and option contract open interest not that high.
Maybe not all FIs are cut out for option trading?
SEP 17 $45c are .55 not a horrible gamble.

With the anti gun attitude from .gov and media and seeing what Remington and Colt have done to themselves IDK why anyone would consider gun stocks.
Now with Afganistan withdraw you could even make the same argument for war stocks like Northrup Grumman and Raytheon

Nope, no income tax in Texas.

That would really suck though.

Yes indeed. It'll be next June til I'm long in MVIS. I bet a lot happens before then. So if the price goes up substantially do I sell and eat the larger STCG tax costs, or wait til June and hope the high price stays til then?

Personally, I'd have to be very close (probably within a week) of LTCG to consider waiting. Make hay while the sun shines, bird in the hand, and all that.

This from a guy with no state income tax, who is not a financial advisor, is probably an idiot, and may be a Russian bot.

Here's my plan:
I started buying MVIS shares on Feb 8 with buys all the way out to this last week, have NOT sold a share yet.
If an event happen where I wish to sell shares or I have a CC get exercised, my brokerage has the most expensive shares going out 1st.
That way, if the stretches past Feb 22, my least expensive shares, the one I would pay the most taxes on, are queued up last.

As stated many times, I am not a financial advisor or a tax professional, I can't even string my weed whacker correctly.

Yeah, a lot of us are kicking ourselves for not dumping at $22+ the last few times it occurred, and then buying back in.

I'll be hard pressed to not dump my 55,434 shares if 20+ happens again, and hope to buy back the whole lot plus some when it dips below.  Of those shares, 27,325 are LTCG, 4483 more become LTCG on 8/24, and 42 more on 9/2.  I learned my lesson after THREE TIMES, and I need to cash out.

Long term, I'm still very BAFF on MVIS, but I need to cash out and hope for a $5+ drop to buy back in.  I'll tell you what, though...I highly doubt we have more than two $20+ spikes before we stay above $20+ for the long term.  after we sustain, I'm in for a while, $30+ before I do it again and then probably only buy back in for about 10k shares and let it ride.

This is the way.  Use those higher-priced shares to play with for swing trading or covered calls.  I play with lower priced shares too, but I am very careful with those of the lower cost basis shares I play with.

Browse through the thread and see how much regret there was when it jumped and came back down, and many didn’t sell.  Not once, not twice, but three times.

Paying taxes is part of the game. I would not let taxes dictate a profitable trading strategy.

This is how I play it. Buy, sell, rebuy….

But I keep a base number of shares for moon shot if it ever happens

And as far as taxes on short term gains…I would rather have 50% of something vs 100% of nothing

When you sell and rebuy, do you basically sell to cover whatever your cost basis total is? Example of you spent $10,000 on MVIS, sell and recoup at least the $10,000 so the rest you're playing with is just profits? That way you also don't have to pay taxes on your initial cost basis investment?

I ASSumed that as you've talked about it before.
How long is the trek to getting an OTC penny listed? I'm sure there is an example or two.
I should have punched back in at the .11 range, kept thinking a little dip below .10 was coming.
Might be a few days before DPLS comes back to my buy-in target

Has anyone taken a look at AppHarvest (APPH)?  They are an agricultural company based in KY that is building hydroponic greenhouses to produce produce (isn't it neat how pronouncing that word differently changes it from a verb to a noun?  lol).  They had a spike earlier in the year around the time they were listed on NASDAQ and have settled back since then.  Being semi-local to me and addressing something I see as a future concern (reliance on imported produce), I'd like to see them do well, but not sure of their long term viability.
