What is the consensus on the TR-660? hype or decent

I just recently put it on a tan colored NATO strap to replace the original leather and nylon one that was trashed. It’s a cool field watch. I like automatics of course but I don’t discriminate against quartz watches. I wore a Timex Ironman digital watch in OIF but it sadly bit the dust during a Cola Warrior run a few years back when I fell into a lake. It was probably 25 years old and I guess the seals had dried up. I still have the watch but she dead. My interest in watches is almost entirely driven by their military history. Here’s my current daily wear watch. It’s a Seiko automatic movement that I assembled as a homage to the old Blancpain Fifty Farhoms and Tournek-Rayville dive watches. I call it the Fauxfty Fathoms. I didn’t deploy to DSDS in 90-91, and have long forgotten how I received this…appears it was a May 91 Russian made DS commemorative…. Anyone have an idea where how what these were distributed…. UPDATE After Wifey reminded me of the facts….we were stationed at Ft Wainwright 91-93 and as part of the Fairbanks Siberian Sister City program, we ended up sponsoring 2 Russians for a weekend…as thanks, they gave me the traditional used Russian leather belt and belt buckle, and as I had forgotten…this watch. Neither of our guests were overt military. So, anyone else have experience with these? Attached File |

Although I still kinda like the idea of modification.... Eta: this quartz dandy is a frigging tankard!

The JayandKays all metal 20mm nato adapters finally came in today. FedEx decided to take their sweet time.....Gotta say im digging the fit+finish. They let the nato sit flush to the case back. Plus they definitely feel far more robust than the previous "plastic" ones I had installed. I kept the oem spring bars instead of using the included quick release set so I'm glad it was compatible in that aspect as well.  Originally I was going to move the green nato to the Marathon but im digging the "Dessert Warrior" on the SSNAV. Fun summer watch vibes for sure. |
My war watch since 2017. It's been on quite a few trips overseas, plus some field time in CONUS, and still keeps good time and looks good. I wish CountyComm would bring these out again, but they'd never be as good as these OG models. My current deployment timepiece that I got as part of an engagement ring deal I couldn't refuse. I like it a lot.  |
