Let me start off by saying, I have NO IDEA what this is. I'm not making any claims of seeing a particular creature or entity. The location is in the eastern panhandle of WV. Ok. So, I was playing with my thermal scope a couple of months back while out in the back yard with my GSD, Ace. I captured something on the edge of the yard and got a couple of images of it. Sorry, the scope isn't the best at capturing clear images. My dog didn't react to it at all. The lights were off so it was in the dark, but it watched us for a few moments before disappearing into the woods. I have looked for it since but I haven't seen it since that night. The height of it is about 4 feet tall. My dog will react to deer, rabbits, cats, bears, etc. But with this, he didn't even seem to see anything. I apologize for the crappy images but the ATN scopes suck at still photos. Thought I'd share this with you guys. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Looks like a guy hanging out and looking at you looking at him. Do you have a neighbor in that direction? Did it move or was it just sitting there looking at you thinking you couldn't see him? |

It looks like someone a bit further back in the woods, not someone/thing right at the edge of the wood line. This is what I see, but it's someone 50+ yards away: Attached File |

Plus, the edges are crisp, and everybody knows that Bigfoot is inherently blurry due to phasing into our reality so that's ruled out, unless he came fully to our reality to stay awhile to mess with our heads. |

I'll probably have my dog stand in that spot. |

It was moving some, and it walked back into the woods without making any noise that I could detect. |

It's some branches. Let me go get a day time photo. |

Ok... this is a photo of the same spot with my GSD standing just in front of the fence where I saw it. Attached File |

WV? You have anything stolen from a shed? Probably a hilljack. |

| Hmm. So it was standing about 4’ tall roughly. I was originally going to say bobcat, since they can sneak away like you described. But now I’m not sure. Black bear sized. But the dog not going apeshit makes me wonder. |

| I'm thinking person, due to the proximity of how close other houses are (hundreds of yards away versus miles). Yes it is private property, however we all know unless it has a super high fortified electric fence, people ignore no trespassing signs all the time. |

Originally Posted By tnriverluver: I think dogs see beings our eyes can't and are so use to seeing them all the time they pay them no attention. Dogs vision spectrum is much different from us humans. This is a "google merged compilation of answers" which leaves me confused. Dogs are nearsighted to the point of blind and are only good with night vision and catching motion, leaving near IR their only bonus over humans? I was always told they made us look blind.. ![]() Visual Acuity: Humans have significantly sharper vision than dogs. Normal human vision is 20/20, meaning clear sight at 20 feet. Dogs typically have 20/75 vision, meaning they must be 20 feet from an object to see it as clearly as a human can at 75 feet. This makes dogs' vision appear blurry, especially for distant or fine details. Color Perception: Humans are trichromatic, with three types of cones detecting red, green, and blue, allowing us to see millions of colors. Dogs are dichromatic, with only two cone types—sensitive to blue and yellow-green. They cannot distinguish reds and greens, which appear as varying shades of yellow or gray. Field of View: Dogs have a much wider field of view—about 240° to 250°—compared to humans' 180°. This allows dogs to see more of their surroundings at once, especially in peripheral vision, aiding in detecting movement and potential threats. Night Vision & Motion Detection: Dogs excel in low-light conditions due to a higher number of rods (light-sensitive cells) and a reflective layer called the tapetum lucidum, which enhances night vision. They can see in about one-quarter the light humans need. Dogs also detect motion far better than humans, with motion sensitivity up to 10–20 times greater, especially in dim light. Depth Perception: Humans have better depth perception due to greater binocular overlap (140°) from front-facing eyes. Dogs have less overlap (~100°), resulting in reduced depth perception, though they can still judge distances well enough for daily activities. In summary, human vision is superior in sharpness, color range, and depth perception, while dog vision excels in peripheral awareness, motion detection, and low-light performance—each adapted to their evolutionary roles as hunters and companions. |

They excel at seeing motion, and can control their irises to let in whatever light they want so a moonlit night is like daylight to them, but anything beyond a short distance is pretty much a blur. Same color blindness as dogs too, only 2 color vision. |

I have a "bat hunter" that simply divides frequencies down audio by 5 so you can hear direction and sound of the bats "talking" in addition to seeing which are two different kind of sounds. |
