First Blood was on Pluto TV tonight so I watched it while I was doing something else.
Is there a particular reason why Sheriff Teasle used a Heckler & Koch HK93A2 and his deputies used M16s? Did the director / writers just want him to stand out or differentiate himself from the other sheriff deputies? Or was there another reason? |

So- you have never experienced management wanting the best thing, like a new car, while the troops get the worn out one with 100k miles on it? Or a perceived “better” gun, etc?
It is almost a fucking perfect way to evaluate a leader in LE. If they prioritize themselves, they are shitty. If they prioritize the troops (of their own choosing), they are usually pretty good. Have seen it many times… |

This is true. The town in that movie was almost a carbon copy of the town I grew up in at that time. Same size town. Same dickhead cops. Same super dickhead sheriff. None of the LE had rifles in their patrol cars in our town at that time. It wasn’t long after though. A friend of mine from high school at that time was son of city police officer. His dad had a personal Colt AR with the “Property of the US Government” stamp on it. We thought it was pretty cool. Not as cool as this starry bra but cool.

In Leon/The Professional, the NYPD ESU had a very odd assortment of rifles.

I just watched First Blood the other night and wondered the same thing. I presumed it was for the same reason all the cops are wearing bright white hats in the forest as they're hunting Rambo - it's to make them stand out and be more recognizable to the audience.
Saw some of "The Great Raid" the other day and noticed the same thing. Enemy camp commander had these HUGE white shirt collars that stuck out from his uniform. Easy to identify him in the scenes where they were running around in the dark with things exploding. |

Anybody know if that’s accurate? |
