The fact that they all have to run up together and high five each other for every little routine play makes it unbearable to watch for me. I caught a pop fly, we all must celebrate! I get enthusiasm, but sheesh. But I guess since the fields so tiny to allow for slow balls and slow base runners, it only takes like 5 steps for them to congregate.

I’m too bitter and antisocial to enjoy watching young people compete and have fun. The thought of someone else having fun and me bearing witness to it gives me heartburn. I’ll just take solace in knowing I’m much wiser than most because I listen to conservative talk radio from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and then I switch over to Fox News. The rest of you sportsball fans need to get a life.

If the player is past their freshman year odds are pretty strong they are lesbian or at least well on their way.

Correct, same for many women's college sports. My college days has me remembering the honeys (soccer, hockey, and volleyball ) I spent time with fondly but even a few of them changed teams down the road...nowadays, sheesh!

My daughter just started 12u as a 10 year old in the fall.  Finishing up our second season now. As such, we've watched a shit ton of NCAA softball this year. We love it. She's really into it and looks up to these girls as inspiration.

To answer a few of your questions, not every position requires a tri-athlete.
Yes, it is definitely softball culture. The chants, the cheers, the excitement. Just part of it.
Smaller field, but girls are throwing 70 mph at 40' is like a 95+ fast ball.  No mound and ball release point make it harder to pick up and read the ball before it's there. I'd challenge just about anyone to try and hit a 70+ mph rise ball. Shit is profoundly harder than it looks/sounds.

However, there are many very athletic girls that play:

The cheering and raw enthusiasm is on of the best parts of girls Softball. The games are quick and the sport retains the amateur feel that college football and basketball has lost. I'm a converted fan.

They are fast paced games and the short distances make it interesting.

To me, it is a lot of fun to watch when they start the playoffs and the regionals. OK is so dominant though, they make it unappealing in the finals, plus the ESPN crew is extremely OK biased. I watch up until the OK vs the team that will lose to OK finals

What is interesting to me is the pitchers can throw consecutive days or every game. The motion seems as though the arm would wear out after a while.

So the NCAA agrees that some people who may or may not be able to give birth are fundamentally physically inferior than other people who may or may not be able to give birth?

Send in the purple-hair protestors and burn it all down

I watched a couple tourney games last year being sick at home and was very, very surprised that I enjoyed it.  Their camaraderie was a good part of the enjoyment.

LOL, European football (soccer) is much more entertaining and athletic than American football.  I doubt very many of our footballers can run nonstop for 90 minutes up and down a field that is larger than what they are used to.

Soccer is more entertaining than the NFL!!!???  Are you high!!?    1 - 0 games with guys that can run around a lot is entertaining!!??  You can keep that shit.  My 4 year old daughters friend plays soccer and I hope like hell that my daughter doesn't show any interest in that horrible bore-fest of a sport.  As bad as tennis which is basically just like two women having an argument.  Back and forth, back and forth.  If she takes after my wife at all she won't play any sport for long.. . woman doesn't have an athletic bone in her body.  If she takes after me she'll play any sport she wants and be better than average.  I'd be thrilled if she takes up softball because it's fast paced and exciting.  Hell, I'd volunteer to coach!  Soccer?  Shit, I think I'd rather watch her do ballet.
