Mostly for fun.
A lot of times, I like reading other people's take on things like current events. It forces you to look at things from more than one angle. That's a good thing.

The "breaking news" here is a joke and makes CNN look like a bastion of truth and honesty. Its been a sewer of disinformat.....ok.....outright lies and bullshit since the Marathon Bombing. It's embarrassing.

Its a weird dynamic. People coming up with fantasy scenarios for most everything, more and more trolls every year. People come and people go.
Yet, some of the most helpful people with the biggest hearts full of generosity hang out here. You can always find someone going out of thier way to help someone else.
And that's very cool.

I think that's why I like it. It always keeps you guessing. It's the worst of humanity, and then 2 hours later, it's the best of humanity giving you hope.
With a lot of good hearted laughs in between.

In your social, political, financial, hobby, interest, etc. circle their will be a limited number of people to share, say, a discussion on watches, guns, real estate, investment, medical trends, science trends, education trends, current events, knives, dogs, military, horses, books, current events, history, reloading, etc.

A place like GD allows discussion with a wider group for discussion.
Pros are it can be done at your convenience vs real time, a larger pool of experts, etc.
Cons include wading through stuff you are not interested in, a massive pool of dipshits with no real expertise in the subject, etc.

Started out as using it as a non-communist news/current events clearinghouse. Hell, i didn't even care to own an AR.

Then a salad days Palmetto State Armory thread happened a few years back. Now i have two of the fucking things and actually enjoy shooting them.

This place constantly costs me money. Main reason i stay out of that diabolical night vision sub forum. Last time i popped in there, i ended up with a $200s off Sionyx. I'd say i escaped that trap cheaply.
