I want to add an everyday watch to the pile. Seiko diver. Something rugged I can swim with so 200m? Steel bracelet a must. Probably just a simple black face. Automatic or solar.

What models should I be looking, at they’re all so damn close.

I personally don't like the steel bracelets... however I'm pretty sure you can buy them directly from Seiko, or aftermarket.

Therefore,  buy what you like.  There's an Orange Monster for sale on EE (not mine), but the model is getting dated.  I like the PADI designs, personally.

Just got a new SNE589 for my work week, when I can't keep an auto running. Pretty happy with it so far.

Got one of each and the auto gets worn 99% of the time.

Since they don't make the 007 anymore, I'd say a Long Island Watch "clone."

ORIENT RAY II

I bought a King Turtle, but realized it was a little big for my wrist. A few months later I got a Willard that feels better for me. I also like it because it has one less complication to worry about adjusting/setting.

That would be my pick, for current production.  Seiko Epson Orient Ray II.  They also have some nicer styles but this one is for me.

Wife got me the blue one

I really like it, except I wish the bezel was easier to rotate

I actually use the bezel as a timer

I use the bezel as a timer as well, and it was initially harder to rotate than I would like.  The bezel has worn in a bit over the last 3 years I've been wearing it, though it still maintains unidirectional ratcheting nicely.  I do like the 120 teeth.  My Citizen Promaster Diver's 200 that I rarely wear has only a 60 tooth bezel and feels "cheap" by comparison.

My favorite "default daily beater" is my spb143, you can find them for like $600-$700 used or $900 new.

I have a samurai but this is the correct answer.

OP, 200m water resistance is not required for swimming.  It's a standard for serious tool watches but think about how fucking deep that is and ask yourself if you'd even want to be that far under water in a damn submarine.

Awesome! I had a full size samurai I just didn’t vibe with, I think the size was weird for me but I like the proportions here.

Another vote for the SNE573.  I dig automatics but the +/- 15 second per month accuracy of the solar movement is nice.

Yeah I’m glad I paid extra and went with the smaller one at 42mm vs the 44mm.

Coming from a 38mm Hamilton the 42 seems to be my sweet spot.

I wanted a good low maintenance, grab and go quartz diver and picked up a Seiko SNE589 a couple of months ago.  Solar charging and no battery replacement needed!  Looks pretty good too.  It's basically the 42mm version of the SNE573 that's posted above.  It comes with the steel bracelet but I changed mine out with a 4 ring Zulu strap.

You rotten bastard.

I missed them when they were out, they were discontinued fast, and I never snagged one.

Seiko was horrible for not continuing them.
