Nice condition 1.5-2k. Wouldn't take less than a g for it unless it was raped by Brandon (read: thrown down the driveway).

I might have told this story before, but somewhat related. My father-in-law and are are two peas in a pod. He told me several times he had a Ruger Redhawk in the 80s with a particular sight configuration (that he loved and was his favorite gun). His nutty ex-wife pawned it without his knowledge before they divorced. Many years later, I found an identical one later and bought it when backpage was still a thing. I asked him if he wanted it. Silly question, case closed. Crazy somewhat avenged.

I know I wouldn’t sell my 629 for $1000.

1200 plus depending on condition.  Does it have the wooden presentation box?

Damn good news for me, my 29-3 6" blued in damn great shape 99%.

My uncle gave it to me when I got out of the Army, it has maybe 500 rounds through it.  When he dies I will sell it as it does nothing for me.

A good condition P&R Model 29 can easily, EASILY fetch $2k. More if in the original presentation box, with accessories, and all paperwork. Mountain Guns go for $2k+ all day.

ETA: I paid $550 for it 12 or so years ago.

I got mine with holster, box of .44 Magnum, and two boxes of .44 Special for that same amount.

Haven't carried it or shot it in years.  I like the gun but I don't like the price of ammo.

Edit: Got it in 2006 or 2007

Depends on your local market OP.  Smith revolvers are a hot item here and prices start at the 1k mark for good condition examples of L and K frames.

N frames even more, A LGS had a model 27 on consignment this week for $1500 and it sold in two days. I haven't seen a model 29 for sale here in 6 months or more.

Condition, barrel length, grips, box, docs, etc?  All of those things can effect the price several hundred dollars.

Is it a -2 or -3 or other?

-2's were made from 1961 till 1982, so if it's from the '70's it's a -2.

OP it depends on the condition but if it's nice I'm on board with those saying $1500 to start, and if it's very nice 2k give or take. There's no reason you have to sell in your local market which may be great or not so good on revolvers.
Ask for info on the S&W site, you'll get particulars and probably offers.

I'd say $1200 up to $1800 if in good condition.

Now a 29 thread.

Pre 29, 4".

29-2, 8-3/8" Nickel.

This. A LGS in my area just sold a beautiful one for $1800ish. I had a chance at $1650 but couldn't come up with the money fast enough.
