Ended up really liking my JDM Seiko Alpinist GMT with a green dial and wanted the same in blue… but didn’t want to drop another $800 or so. Found this copy, with a lower end Seiko movement, and figured I’d take a chance. Trashed the shitty brown strap it was on and changed it out to a nice graphite gray leather strap with a carbon fiber texture that I think compliments it well.

I just finished my latest bench project: a 1921 Elgin 7jewel that wasn’t running. I got it for $25 off of Facebook and all it needed was a clean and service. Bringing a 100+ year old watch back from the dead is oddly satisfying. Attached File I’m always impressed at the finishing on old Elgins, even their consumer grade models. Attached File |
