I thought ... ment ect.
For example, I am going to Walmart, running errands...
My 19 year old says ... means you are mad.
Is he right?
If so when did this change occur?
Also if so, that is stupid.
I know, 57 year old shouts at clouds.

I think it usually means etcetera when it's in a sentence or at the end of a sentence.

I think it means mad or kind of like an "are you serious?" face when it's by itself.

Kind of like this

Other words my kids say that I had to figure out meanings were...

That's cooked...(I guess this mean it's good)

That's fire....(Means good too?)

That's clapped (means bad)

He's selling (I guess this means he's sucking.  Mostly in terms of sports...e.g. Joe sold the game)

I dunno...where are the clouds for me to yell at.

Just by itself, it's something like uncomfortable silence, or them tapping their foot and saying nothing. It means "I am here, not saying anything." Imagine your wife is looking at you in silence with no expression. That's exactly what it means. :D

I had to explain to my wife and friends 20 yo son what a “top” or “bottom” was.  Well apparently there are two meanings now.  But they had no idea it was the giving or receiving in the gay community.  “Yes dear, the bottom takes it up the ass.”
While “the bottom whore” can mean the pimps go-to hooker.
That was a fun Google experiment.  Glad it wasn’t on my phone.

It is a text thing when someone is writing a long text but not sending yet the recipient sees the ellipses and assumes the worst.

Exactly ... used to mean STOP as in a break or pause between sentences, phrases, etc. I still use it to break up my SMS messages and some of my posts here.

It historically comes from the telegraph ...

Like every generation used to do with words by borrowing them to use as slang, this new generation is using text to borrow as slang.

Kinda cool but really bogus man ...

Mad as in angry or mad as in insane?

Only lingo I think is pretty tarded is “sick”

That went from meaning something was disgusting/vile to meaning something is cool/awesome.

The words…the members…both?

The words, mostly.

By the time the members are clapped out, they’ve usually stopped trying to misuse slang terms to fit in with the younger crowd.

I just learned a while back, here on GD, that a lot sub 30 year olds shit their britches when their phone actually rings. Like have a complex over actually conduct a live conversation.

Ran into one of these just yesterday. It was a new 30 year old friend of my daughter. Ran into them shopping. Me and my kid hug, like usual. I nod/smile at this new acquaintance. She sheepishly stepped back, grinned and said Hello. Nothing else, just polite standoffishness. Daughter and I chat a bit, then we part. Daughter later tells me the normal looking friend said Hello because that new friend hears my daughter speaks of me in a good light. I then think "WTF?" A full grown adult living in a self imposed slave cage. The woman looked outwardly normal.

Before cell phones, you could not get most females off a landline. Memories of my mother, cousins, female friends, ex GFs and my ex prove that. (My ex could phone yack with her bestie and sisters all night.) Hell, I'm not a big conversationalist, but I'd yack on a phone thirty minutes if a GF or good friend was on the other end.

Ok so for everyone that scratched their head.

He's asking if writing an eclipse in a text means that the writer is angry.

Whereas it formerly meant et cetera, or implied trailing off in a conversation.
