We’re near Buenos Aires right now. Heading south east into the mountains tomorrow, Boruca people after that, then heading towards the Osa peninsula. |

Quoted: I may just keep updating this thread as the trip goes on if y’all see fit. This place is just magical for my whole family. My wife drug me down here for the first time years ago against my will and now I want to retire here. First food pic. Staying in the same cabin tonight. We drove 2 hours (1 full hour required 4x4) to see the chapel in the clouds. Damn place was closed…. It was ok though, the drive was beautiful. Being above the clouds, giving the little Jimney all she could handle in four wheel drive was awesome.
We stopped and got some pizza and a few imperials on the way back and now we’re chillin. Time for a cigar and relax! |

In the AM we’ll head out after a typical breakfast for the Boruca People. I hope to get a cool mask just because. Then we’ll head for Palmer Norte to our next stay. It will be less impressive, it’s kinda modern.

For those that have never gone there, you’re missing out. Great country with mostly great people. Like anywhere, they have crime, corruption and typical BS Latin-American stuff but it’s closer to the US in culture than you know.
Being an ex-pat down there in the right area would be better than a lot of the US. You can own certain guns and as long as you’re not doing shady shit, you’re left alone. |

Quoted: My wife asked if I’d like to own something up in here. I told her I’d have to see the whole property first. I could get used to being a “coffee” lord lol. View Quote Be very cautious about buying. Crazy neighbors, difficulty selling. Being on vacation and living day to day in a tropical vacation area can be a very different experience. I would rent for a few years before even considering buying. That road you took to paradise? Might be a raging river a few months every wet season. Like getting eaten alive by insects from mars and attacked by monkeys? How far to the nearest doctor or car mechanic? And yeah, CR has great food. Those women can cook anything. |

Visited the Boruca people today on our way to Palmar Norte. Our Spanish isn’t great so we really didn’t get a great experience in their town. We probably shoulda got a guide. On the way out we stopped at a local artisan’s shop and although we had the same language barrier he was awesome and with the help of a little google translate we heard the whole story about their carved masks. He let me try one on that had been used in a festival, then I bought a wall hanger.
