Sony is infesting anime subs with woke bullshit on Crunchyroll.
I notice on the show “faraway paladin” they refer to one of the goddesses as “they” rather than “she”. I’ve noticed this in a number of other anime’s too. |

I don’t think Goblin Slayer S2 is as good as S1, but it’s still enjoyable. In this week’s episode it was pretty funny to hear Guild Girl say she didn’t want GS to see her without her makeup on as she looks exactly the same as she always does.
Very impressive harem GS has, unbeknownst to him, acquired. He still needs to add Witch though. Attached File |

Kinda wondering how much lag there is between manga chapters being published in Japan, and English translations getting out, but the only publishing dates I found with a quick search were for the Yurucamp volumes, not the individual chapters.
From chapter 80: Attached File It's already back in production with another company - Grand Trunk - though with a reduced selection of colors. Way back in the thread, there was some discussion of identifying the gear, and we seemed to have something of a consensus (for a while) that Rin's tent was likely a Timberline 2 from Eureka, but it turned out it was a Moonlight 2 tent from a Japanese manufacturer. The Moonlight 2 is similar to the Timberline 2, but slightly smaller (packs noticeably smaller due to the pole sections being shorter) and with the vestibule being part of the rainfly, instead of an add-on option. You'd think that might make it less expensive, but the Moonlight 2 seems to be quite a bit more expensive. And now Eureka has announced that they will be shutting down their company, next year. But more on topic for the thread, the next season of the anime is scheduled for Spring 2024. Different studio, and the art style has changed (said they wanted to be closer to the manga), but they seem to be using the same voice actors and same music people. Hopefully the change won't be too jarring. ETA: Attached File |

After getting caught up on One Piece, I found that a few of my favorites have new seasons out or started. So I have been bouncing between SPYxFAMILY, Goblin Slayer, Overlord, MF Ghost, Started and caught up on The Rising of Shield Hero, And How Not to Summon a Demon Lord.
Shield Hero is now in my top five, I really like the plot/writing style and the artwork. HNTSA Demon Lord was kinda trippy because I thought I had watched it because some scenes looked familiar, but then whole episodes would seem new to me. IDK if I binged it before while ill, or maybe just saw so many posts with out-takes that it looked familiar. SPYxFAMILY I'm enjoying the second season just as much as the first. Sure it doesn't have that new anime smell, where all the characters are fresh and interesting. But the world and character development is going well, and I am caring more for the characters and see them drawing closer to each other. I hope season three starts with Anya spilling the beans about being an empath, and tells her parents each others secret plus Bonds ability. Then they can start truly working together as an OP power-family. Goblin Slayer still cracks me up with how oblivious he is to the female attention. I still haven't decided who is best girl, but am leaning toward the red-headed farm-girl. Does anyone else think the dub voice actor sounds Clint Eastwoodish? One that caught me by surprise, and that I don't recall anyone posting about is The Worlds Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat. MC is a world class hitman, double crossed after doing a job and killed by his employer. Reincarnated as a baby in a family of aristocrats who have a secret life as a clan of assassins. I like both the way the plot is developing and the unique animation style. I'm only on S1E9 but I am betting this MC becomes one of my favorite characters. His mom definitely has "issues". Then there is MF Ghost. OMG, a worthy successor to Initial D! I wish, after every damn episode, that I had waited until the season was over to start watching it. The suspense/curiosity is killing me. One thing I like, the way the cars are almost photorealistic renderings while the characters are drawn with less quality and detail. As a gearhead, I want the cars to be the stars, and the humans to be the supporting cast. Although the angels could be drawn with more detail when they are at the track. |

View Quote A lot of anime nowadays, combines hand drawn art with CGI. Noticed that in Suzume, too. I have to say, though, I'm not a fan of the stylistic choice of the hand-dran 'dirt' on the CGI cars. Yeah, yeah, it's supposed to be penned in 'shading', but it looks like dirt (especially on the white Porsches), and looks really crappy, IMO. I prefer what they did for Initial D, where the car scenes were CGI, and the rest was hand drawn. I think they made the stylistic choice in MFG in an attempt to reduce the disparity between the hand drawn and CGI scenes, but I just think it looks like crap (because unlike everything else about the CG cars, the hand drawn dirt doesn't remain steady in reference to the car. It scintillates/vibrates). |

MFG did another five manga chapters in episode 9, which is what they've been doing every week.
Went from ch 39 to ch 44. Started ep 9 in sector 3 of a 3 sector final lap, and finished the race. Kanata's race 2 qualifying lap is in ch 59, so that'll probably be episode 12. |

About Ren/Angel 7...
Click To View Spoiler Ren is so shy, she's embarrassed to go to the beach in a bikini with Kanata (but she does do it), and she freaks out at the idea of being a podium girl and giving the winner a kiss on the cheek. She really has no boy-girl experience in real life, and interacting with live boys/men is a lot harder than being on camera. So did all the MFG fans enjoy three weeks of Click To View Spoiler not racing? MFG has a race a month, except August is summer break. So before every race you have 3 weeks of life away from MFG (8 weeks before race 4). The previews show #3 and #18 going fast with MFG drones overhead, so at minimum we're seeing day one qualifiers next time. I'm hoping to watch 4,7,9,13 and 16 qualify too. 1,12 and 86 will have to wait for episode 12. Cliffhanger from the current Manga issue, between race 4 and race 5:Click To View Spoiler A 86 GR (second generation of Ogata's FR86) in a parking lot, with what looks like a MFG number 860 on the door. It would be totally awesome if Takumi showed up in a newer 86 for the last MFG race of the season to give Kanata his final exam. Alternate guesses: The kid who nearly beat Takumi when Takumi blew up his 20v engine in Project D, or Mako. But I think if Mako were to make a cameo in MFG, she'd be driving a 350z or Skyline GTR, or maybe a 911, not a Toyota. |

Feel like venting/commenting:
Dr. Stone (Season 3) - I'm out, can't do it after the finale. What, they gonna make coconut husk space helmets? Nah dog, I'm out. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - Still fucking great. Slow burn, but so good. Hitting me in the feels. Also, been rewatching fight scenes/parts of episodes to make sure I caught it all. Rising of the Shield Hero (Season 3) - After basically walking out of Season 2 unfinished, came back to see what Season 3 is all about. Wow, good animation and a story? Count me in. Also, Raphtalia and Orca Tiddies. Reincarnated as a Sword - What the hell, I'll give it a shot. Not bad, silly, but good action and can't get mad at a catgirl protagonist. Wolf and Spice (Season 2) - Yeah, a oldie. I vaguely remember watching Season 1, so started Season 2. I like it, getting blue balls waiting for homie to hookup with beastgirl hottie, but you know how that goes. Anyone have any other suggestions? I have HIDIVE on Amazon for this month, but cancelling it. Crunchyroll of course. Also, quick review of The Boy and the Heron (in theaters). Beautiful (of course) but nonsensical story that (for me) was impossible to follow and care about. |

View Quote For the currently airing: I'm enjoying Shangri-la Frontier. It's a VRMMO type anime, a little over the top, but the animation and action are great. Under Ninja is an interesting story, with a timeline like Pulp Fiction the way it plays out. Goblin Slayer is well... Goblin Slayer. I enjoyed Season 1 and the movie more, but S2 is good nonetheless. Berserk of Gluttony is interesting. Typically OP kind of MC, but an enjoyable concept. My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer is on the sweet kind of side. Not overly sweet, and the daughter is kind of annoyingly a daddy's girls. I'm more interest in the background of the former adventurer father Belgrieve's background. Seems like a good due that just wants to help folk. And for the older stuff, and still on the topic of long and specific titles: Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside is good, and deserves another season in my opinion. It follows a former heroes party member just trying to do his own thing and stay out of the spot light. Chillin' in My 30s After Getting Fired from the Demon King's Army is along the same vein. And the MC isn't some loser that's afraid of women. (Get some bro) not quite as good as the former above, but enjoyable. Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life! Really needs a second season. It's another VRMMO type anime, but to me it tops all others in that genre, with Shangri-la Frontier topping it in action and animation. I enjoy it waaaaay more than SAO or .Hack For any other recommendations, it would help to know your preferred genres. The list can get much longer ETA: Frieren is my favorite this season. I went and got what I could of the manga because of how much I enjoy it. And it has been 100% accurate to the manga. It keeps the slow burn going with some more spikes in excitement. It's a very enjoyable story. ETA 2: Reincarnated as a Sword is one of my favorites as well. Also snagged some of the manga. Fran is best daughter, and I would definitely become a sword to guide her into becoming the strongest black cat to ever adventure if stuck in that same situation. |

I think it was maybe "the girl next door spoils me" or a show like that where I think she'd have to pull his pants down and do a flying clam attack into a 69 position while he was standing before he'd think maybe she was a little sweet on him. |

I've noticed HiDive shows don't get much attention. Helck and Eminence in Shadow are two of my favorites this season.

I really enjoyed the latest episode of Shangri-La Frontier.
Click To View Spoiler I'd say that was one of the coolest blacksmithing scenes ever, ranking right up there with The Sacred Blacksmith. I love seeing new and unique takes on something as commonplace as forging magical weapons, rather than them just showing a guy banging on an anvil for a moment and then glossing over it. The more interesting and unique the process, the more memorable it is, and the more character it lends the unique weapons. The lore they expounded on about Vorpal weapons having a memory, and how they can take on a new shape when they are being acsended, was pretty epic. The magic circles were also a very unique touch, adding a nice visual to go with the rhythm of the song. That was a very well done scene, in my personal opinion. It really is one of the best shows this season. |

One is accidentally op at everything he does while not wanting to be in the spotlight, the other is an actually skilled player using his knowledge of broken games and game mechanics to his advantage. The latter is also better animated and more exciting. |

Every time I watch Shangri-La Frontier, the same pervasive thought always takes center stage and won't let go...
I want to see a crossover where Sunraku plays the game Kiwame Quest, from Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life!. |
