Wavy Lays are made from potato powder. Extruded with high temp oil. The machine sits there farting out greasy browned potato powder like Cheetos does with corn powder. When they first came out, a big bag of Wavy Lays was 50 cents. Ruffles cost about $2.50 during that period.

It was a way for Lays to turn waste into cash. I guess they still are but even more so now.

no, maybe you are thinking of lays stackers.
this is a knife blade for wavy lays, which are cut from whole potatoes.

Those and their Voodoo ones have taken hold as the major players here in southern Indiana. They're everywhere. I don't really care for any potato chips to be honest. I'll eat the kettle chips on occassion or (lately) the flaming hot cool ranch Doritos. But chips in general are greasy garbage food.

You sad fools. You think you have some grasp of what is happening. You’re all just a tool of BIG POTATO.

Because they go better on a PB&J sammich than the none wavy variety?

Grippos have been in Southern Indiana at least since the 70s.  I grew up on Grippos BBQ.  And if you don't get the twin pack, you are a bad person from poor breeding stock.
