@Foxtrot08 Can you be more specific? In what way are they worthless? Do you have experience driving/towing with one of the sport models like pictured? The new price is crazy but you can get into a used one decently. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:
Quoted: They're pretty worthless. My fleet has everything from a ranger to the ability to haul 35 tons legally. Can you be more specific? In what way are they worthless? Do you have experience driving/towing with one of the sport models like pictured? The new price is crazy but you can get into a used one decently. Other cons: Maintenance. Even if you got one with air disk fronts, you're looking at drum rears. Suspension/air leaks, typical Freightliner electrical issues. (Looking at you ABS light.) Everything is going to be x3 more expensive than an F550 / ram 5500, for not that much gain. Unless you're using it to 5th wheel haul. Which, then you don't have the bed. Driving wise, drives like an m2 with a super short frame. So empty in wet conditions or snow, you're going to be all over the place. Don't even imagine taking it off road, it'll get stuck in wet grass. If you get a 4x4 one, you will go through very expensive transfer cases. How do I know? I have one. Transfer cases are 16k a piece. I've eaten 3 so far. |

1/2 ton handles what I do with ease and rides a shit ton better.
Because I have a half ton for a daily driver. And a 3/4 ton of I want to haul or tow something heavier, or plow snow. And a 1 ton DRW 16' box van if I want to haul something really big. And then there's the trailers.
Don’t need one. My midsize truck hauls everything that I need. Don’t carry anything braver than a ATV.

A 3/4 ton is pointless, it s a beefed up 1/2 ton. Stop straddling the fence, either stay in a 1/2 ton or move up to a real heavy duty 1 ton. I have a 1/2 ton for running around and I have a Ram 3500 mega cab which is quickly turning into my daily driver. For my next truck I was thinking about a Freightliner Sport Chassis, does anyone have experience with one? https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f2/79/5f/f2795f6cb9417e3eb4e183bb73528bd6.jpg My fleet has everything from a ranger to the ability to haul 35 tons legally. Had one. Didn’t enjoy it much as a daily driver. Bought a half ton when I sold it and have had half tons since. More comfortable, more economical and set up right they pull my trailers fine even if I occasionally notice them going up a mountain or long steep grade.
Trade off not worth it to me. |

Dude, You're comparing class 8 trucks to medium duty. I bet they haul more than the F150s also, huh? SHOCKING. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Ok guy. Which is why I ordered 9 brand new 2020 Peterbilt 348s. Which is why I ordered 2 Kenworth T880s Which is why I'm about to order 4 Peterbilt 567s. M2 suck. Putting the electronics where they are is stupid. They're popular because they're fucking cheap. And they're built cheaply. Only thing worse is an international. Deal with it. I own 100+ trucks and have a fleet of 200+ rolling licensed assets. All makes, all models. From f150s, to Pete 389s with the Elite package. Including 20+ M2s, that I'm trying to get rid of as I can. You're comparing class 8 trucks to medium duty. I bet they haul more than the F150s also, huh? SHOCKING. They're both the same class. They're both marketed and sold, to the same market. M2-106s are arguable Pete 337s. M2-112s are Pete 348s. In both cases, they suck. |

If you need something that big get a dump truck for more versatility.

CA registration is a house payment on large trucks. I dont need one. Motorhome is what I tow my dune buggy with. I need a 4x4 that I can use to tow it around town for small things but I can always borrow my brothers jeep or excursion.
I have a 1 ton for work and a 3/4 ton for going to town.
Do I need two full size diesels, no, do I give a fuck, also no. |
I have had 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton. 3/4 ton is a waste of money for me.
Having driven trucks all my life the 1/2 ton full size is the sweet spot for my needs. |
I have zero need for one. I tow 10k max. Half ton works fine.

Because the stuff I tow and the stuff I haul falls easily into F-150 territory.
Because I only need a 3/4 ton to pull this, and unfortunately, I own a 1/2 ton. Still shopping for that perfect 3/4 ton.

Because I:
A) Can't afford $3/gal at 14mpg on my 60 mile daily commute B) Can't afford to buy one with reasonable mileage under warranty C) Can't afford diesel maintenance schedules and EPA bullshit upkeep (or a delete) D) Don't need anything that big... my half ton does what I need it to do. That said, a Platinum or King Ranch diesel F350 SRW CCLB is at the top of the list for "Retarded lotto purchases that I don't need" right under "Airplane" if I were to ever hit the lottery. Always wanted one. |
Had one. Loved it but...
It was huge which made parking a pain in the ass on the street. It was a diesel which got expensive for just driving around town which was 90% of my driving as a contractor/carpenter. It was old and tired which means it smoked, not like rolling coal smoke but more like oil and unburned diesel white smoke. I got tired of dumping money into it. |

I have one. But it only has 108 HP and has a house on the back.
For the same reason I don't own a dump truck or a bus.
If I need one I'll rent one. I do not want to drive a 1 ton truck around looking for a parking space it will fit in. My cock is big enough on it's own. |
I do. I have a f250, a f-350, and a F-450. Probably shoulda get a F-150 just because.

2010 Tacoma handles most everything I need. I have a single axle trailer available if I need to haul a little extra.
I get my big truck fix at work every day pulling a dry bulk tanker, usually grossing just shy of 80k lbs. She’s a badass KW. Also have access to other company trucks, to include tandem dump trucks, single axle dumps, flatbed trailers, a flatbed Mack straight truck, and an array of Petes/KWs pulling Mac dump wagons. |

I really wish Ford had gone with the double "C" LED strips like on the 150 for the 2/350s instead of the MEGABRACKET. MEGABRACKET is almost as bad as RAM in 87" letters on the back of the Dodges. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:
