Pretty strange story....
TO her friends, Joyce Vincent was a popular young woman with the world at her feet. She had a steady job at a multi-national corporation and no end of admirers wishing to get to know her better. Despite her wide circle of pals, Joyce was found dead aged just 38 in the most tragic of circumstances. On January 25, 2006, police entered her home in Wood Green, North London, to find her "mostly skeletal" remains on the sofa. Joyce's body was surrounded by wrapped-up Christmas presents and the TV was still on. It was clear she had been dead for some time due to how decomposed her remains were but no one could have suspected exactly how long she had been lying on the sofa rotting. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/27627717/joyce-carol-vincent-death-years-tv-still-on/ . |

There was a story a few years ago about a guy in I think the Dallas area that was discovered in his apartment after being dead for years. He moved there and died almost right away in his apartment. Everything was on auto-pay, and he was receiving a pension. Since he was new to the area no one did a welfare check.

She was identified by comparing dental records to a photograph? That's some mighty fine police work, boys.
Given the circles she moved in earlier in life and the sudden disconnect from friends/family, it sounds like this woman became someone's agent. Who knows who they found on the sofa. |

But 11 years later, Joyce's life had changed entirely.
In 2001 she quit her job for unknown reasons and spent time living in a domestic abuse shelter where she worked as a cleaner in a budget hotel. It was during this time that Joyce became estranged from her family and began cutting ties with her once-close friends. She was moved in February 2003 to a bedsit above Wood Green shopping centre known as Sky City. Her flat was owned by the Metropolitan Housing Trust and was used to house domestic abuse survivors Found in 2006. WTF are we hearing about it now? Btw- Stevie Wonder kilt her. |

None of her sisters went to her apartment to see what was up? That's hard to believe even if the dead lady maybe had some issues and wasn't good about staying in touch.

So she cut ties with everyone, to the point that nobody knew she was dead for three years… but she was surrounded by Christmas presents?

My sister had a townhouse, and a unit in the complex had a retired guy who bought with cash, so no mortgage, autopay on utility bills and taxes. Died and no one noticed till the mailman couldn't fit the mail through the slot.

You guys really think a TV should fail after 3 years of use? You are talking like you want to run out and buy this super TV or something.
All kinds of businesses have TVs that never shut off. Car dealerships for example, or just about and rando small business might have a TV that is always on. Either playing actual TV or looping advertisement displays. My TV never shuts off, ever. If it's not actively streaming something, the chomecast screensaver thing is looping. I never actually turn the things off, night or day. If a TV stopped working after 3 year of constant use, I would be pissed. |

That’s EXTREMELY rare for women. I don’t believe she was as well liked / popular as they say simply because no one ever came to look for her.
Most real life murder shows start out. “ Mary 28 didn’t show up to work at 8am dec 1st, / didn’t return a phone call in 5 minutes and concerned coworkers/ boss etc went to her house a hour later and called police to get into her house where they found her dead / missing, etc. “ Shit, I could have stopped showing up after 10 years of excellent work and it would have been.. “ he didn’t call for 3 days, fuck him, he’s fired ! And my body wouldn’t be found ever… unless the house was being sold for unpaid taxes. Yup. She changed her behavior, quit her job, alienated everyone, and cut ties, moved / relocated to a place with no friends, etc. 2001 she quit her job for unknown reasons and spent time living in a domestic abuse shelter where she worked as a cleaner in a budget hotel It was during this time that Joyce became estranged from her family and began cutting ties with her once-close friends. Not uncommon in Japan where work from home employees die but the bills keep getting paid automatically, until the money runs out.
But three years seems like a record, how long had the mean old woman in NJ been dead? She was so mean that nobody thought to check up on her and when they did they found her cats had gnawed on her corpse, with their skeletal remains at the windows trying to get out. |
