My mother had a pitbull that was bullying her senior mutt bad. I came over. I observed the behavior. I grabbed that 90 death machine by the scruff of his neck and his tail, picked him up about chest level and body slammed his ass on the linoleum. I roared in his face, teeth bared, don't fuck with Bear you piece of shit! Then I towered over him. Any time he so much as twitched, I roared in his face and jerked his scruff hard. Sadly, Bear never recovered and was put down, his spirit broken. For the next ten years of his life, that dog hit the floor and pissed himself if I raised my voice of stamped my foot. Just staring at him would make him leave the room. I had to do this to another pit bull of my mom's 20 years later. She nipped my kid on the face. She was much more of a challenge and kept growling and resisting me. I basically laid on her for an hour, and then scruffed her everytime she moved for the rest of the day. When she was pacified, I had my two year old daughter do it, too. A dog has to understand the pack dynamic of the house. They are at the bottom. The very bottom. They cannot be allowed to view a child as a competitor for a higher rank or there will be aggression. It was mean. But it was better than putting the down. I corrected their behavior in a way they understood. |

That sucks, OP. I’m sorry hear that. We were very fortunate that our GSD took to both of our kiddos immediately upon meeting them. They crawl all over her, and constantly touch her. She loves it, and seeks them out. Whenever she’s had enough, she goes and jumps over one of the gates to lay down. I trust her implicitly.

Odd, this post.
I love large dogs like labs and shepherds. My wife loves all dogs. We just put her small dog down a few weeks ago. She also happens to be traveling to Connecticut next Monday by SUV for pleasure. We've discussed rehoming a shepherd in the past. (I've never owned one, only labs). A few have fallen through. We're both retired and no kids in the house (both 65). A trained shepherd who doesn't want to be petted continually sounds like the perfect pet. Not necessarily to me as I am more touchy-feely, but at least my wife. She keeps telling me to get a large dog that I want. Then this comes up...but you've already rehomed it. Funny, she could pick it up and bring it home without all this money and relay nonsense, but I appreciate the people who do this for the doggies! |

@zgermanznew - can you update the OP so that the conversation can be focused on logistics/transport?
Blkvoodoo will give this dog a home and the details for transport are being worked on. ETA - dannylgriffen has expressed interest - that's awesome. I can still help with transport if needed. |
