I do not own any of the Z models, rather I am still building up my collection of lenses to go with my D850 body. I splurged and bought the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED - to go along with my other 'holy trinity' of lenses (the 24-70 and 70-200 f/2.8 lenses). The price was notably higher than prices that I have seen for 'renewed' lenses (whatever that means - is that just a returned lens that was checked over by someone other than Nikon and then resold?). FWIW, the price of refurbished D850 bodies seems to be on a steady decline lately - a bit over $1400 IIRC. I was actually tempted to get a second D850 body - but managed to restrain myself from pulling the trigger on that one (!) |

They can’t legally sell it as new anymore. And the 300/500mm PF lenses are tempting me. Out of my budget and I’m not going to credit card them, but I want. |

I don't know how they acquire these refurbs........ have never had any issues with them. I have never had any problems with Nikon "refurbished" equipment. I bought a Nikon refurb'd 10-20 DX lens, with a plastic lens mount for my Nikon D7100, had it for 5 years, works great. The 10-20 costed like $200 against the Nikon 10-24 DX $800. It is way lighter than my 10-24 lens. This is my "goto" when dim light performance is not a factor. I am now down to 2 lenses when i walk out of my house, Nikon's 10-20 and Tamron 18-400. BTW I am a strong proponent of plastic in cameras. |

Yeah, I've experienced that before during the Nikon sales - gotta be quick, because some items are limited quantity. In a prior sale they had a really good discount on a particular model of point-and-shoot camera with an unpopular color, and I missed out on it because I spent too much time reading reviews before I figured out that it was a good deal. I did find that this time around, when I put my lens choice into the cart, it disappeared from the list of available items even before I checked out. That incentivized me to complete the transaction tout-de-suite. And, I had started my 'shopping' just a few minutes after the refurb sale email popped up in my mailbox, which gave me an advantage. The lens arrived today  |
