A very Sonny Crockett role for Johnson before he became Sonny Crockett. Lots of 44 magnum action also.

Obscure, yes, under-rated? eh...supposedly a good chunk of this movie got cut, making it a bit of a mess. Most likely Michael Mann's most obscure movie.

I loved that movie as a kid and have not seen it in decades. I didn’t know the lead was her until just today.

Strangely I learned she was in it while looking her up for a discussion about THE Whitesnake video.

I’m going to rewatch The Perils of Gwendolyn. I’ll let you know.

ETA:The best of the worst 80s Cinemax fare. Lots of topless girls. Full frontal-ish nudity for a split second of what could have possibly been Tawny Kitaen or a body double.

Here's one I bet few have seen...

One Last Thing...

Kid is dying from brain cancer and is in a Make a Wish program.

His first wish is to meet some sportsball champ, but at the last minute wanted a weekend with a supermodel.

Kind of a fun movie.

Ah, Angel, a "Woke" movie from the '80's.

My submission, a good action flick that got overshadowed by 80's blockbusters.

My favorite scene...  Adios Airways arrives

Now I have Michael McDonald singing in my head, thanks.  A lot better movie than it had any right to be, with touches like the guy getting his foot stuck in the door during a breach, the grizzled cop running supply as he gives Billy Crystal the thick plate carrier, "Y'know, this won't do you any good if you get shot in the face,"...  Peter Hyams was usually a pretty reliable director.

I think we might have gotten to it already, but this was a decent sword and sorcery flick from 1981, with the dorky male lead from Ally McBeal as the young protagonist.

I heard talk about the book about the time I was leaving Honor Guard Co late summer of 1979.  I like the book better.

I still chuckle when I think about the scene (don't know if it's in the movie or not) when James Earl Jones (played the part in the movie) is inspecting the barracks and the dud in James Caan's (played the part in the movie) platoon gets caught with a smut book under the mattress of his bunk.  James Earl Jones is winding up on him and everyone else in the bay and finally stops, looks the kid in the eyes and says, "Son, do you eat pu$$y?"  The boy can't answer anything but, "Yes Sgt. Major!"   Sort of stops the Bn. Sgt. Major for a couple of seconds and then he asks, "How do you feel about that?"  The boy replies, "It's a dark and dirty job Sgt. Major, but someone has to do it!"  The Sgt. Major has to turn and storm out of the bay to keep from laughing his ass off in front of the troops.

Good book.  You should read it.  Yeah, the dud kid wins the CMOH in Vietnam later in the book/movie.
